Thank you Dan Abrams
Why isn't M$M playing more clips from Hagee the way they played that Jeremiah Wright clip.

3. Because Hagee
is just another in a long line of right-wing christian nutcases, and he has no particularly significant personal relationship with McCain. He's not McCain's pastor.

5. McCrazy sought him out
Edited on Wed May-21-08 09:01 PM by libnnc
that's more damaging.

If he didn't know how insane Hagee is, and STILL sought his endorsement, that's a huge stain on McCain's judgment.

This is a big deal. It's sad that you don't see that.

edit to add: all one needs to do is turn the tee vee to the local CBN Fundie channel to see Hagee's rants. He's on everyday. It's not like he's only broadcast on digital tier cable or anything. McLame should have known better.

11. Problem is, McCain DID know better.
He knew exactly what Hagee was all about, and sought him out for exactly that reason. Grandpa McLoon's foreign policy team is made up of the PNAC leftovers who were so crazy that Cheney wouldn't even put them in the Chimp cabinet. And Hagee's brand of ultra-zionism is even crazier than the brand practiced by those idiots and their Likud partners in Israel.

Hagee literally believes that the borders of Israel will stretch from the Red Sea to the Euphrates River before Jesus Christ can return, and the battle of Armageddon can be fought. Forcing a war with Iran, and invoking the Ezekiel 38-39 prophecy, in which Russia will lead a coalition of Muslim nations into a march on Israel, is how Hagee plans on kicking off this "end times end game". According to the prophecy, God will intervene on Israel's behalf and kick Russia's ass, and then all the Jews will turn to God, and apparently take over the rest of the Middle East, because God told Abraham the land was all his way back in Genesis

Of course Hagee forgets the part where the Muslims are also descendants of Abraham through his son Ishmael, but why bother with trivial details like that, right John??

18. oh, I agree it's some sort of deal
but it's just not going to be the big deal that Wright was, no matter how much you want it to be. Republican candidates seek out the endorsements of xtian nutjobs. It's not breaking news.

9. Didja hear the RRR shills spouting that Hagee hasn't got a big following?!
Two things:

1. Neither does Wright and

2. Yes, Hagee absolutely does have a big following on cable TV. His books always sell well too (I used to be in the book biz).

19. Interesting story
I live just a few miles from the "Cornerstone Church" where Hagee practices his pseudo-religion.

My son-in-law's out of town relatives came to visit and all his grandmother could talk about was going to see Pastor Hagee. And she had to sit in the front row so her friends back home in Iowa could see her on TV.

Our daughter was just appalled, refused to go, and will not allow the SIL and his fundy relatives to take her daughter to that place.

We're hoping the SIL comes around someday. We think his dad influences him too much, but he has potential.

This is Democratic Underground. As in "Democratic". As in "pluralistic".

As in different strokes for different folks.
