Edward W. Gillespie, counselor to President Bush, is no stranger to controversy. ....

At the time of Rove’s departure in August, The Washington Post speculated that Gillespie would be asked to “handle political strategy and message management for the president.”

.... He was a top aide to former Rep. Dick Armey, and he helped draft the 1994 Republican “Contract with America.” ... also served as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

In 2000, Gillespie joined with Jack Quinn, former chief of staff to Vice President Al Gore, to form the public relations and lobbying firm of Quinn Gillespie & Associates LLC.

A lobbyist peripheral to the firing of US Attorney Carol Lam has been named as the new Counselor to the President. Gillepsie's firm was paid $360,000 by Tenet Healthcare in 2006. Carol Lam was litigating against Tenet's Alvarado Hospital and its staff when fired. Gillespie served as Bush's hand-pick RNC chairman.

Recently, the White House hired a new group of lawyers, including several from the So. NY USA office. Recent changes in White House personnel also include resignations by persons involved in the USA firings.

2. The vote-cager. WA Post calls it "opposition research" Figuring out who to disenfranchise!!
I call it "voting while black" when Tim Griffin is involved.
His job was figuring out who was black, and making sure they were not going to vote!!
