Another resource for the bicycle riders and wannabees..
If the topographic route planner has driven you to despair of riding a bicycle where you live, then maybe this is the answer.

3. Yep, power assist..
And the engines are Honda and Subaru.. Read: very reliable..

The kits seem very well made and I'm pretty sure an assisted bike is considered a moped.. That will depend on your local government though..

4. I wish I could convince myself to buy another bike
My last two were stolen. $2000 down the drain.

I wonder if the engine is padlocked to the bike?

5. You could make it difficult for a thief to get off..
Superglue the bolts after you get it all together and tested out.. Round off the heads of the bolts with a file or a grinder.. That sort of thing.

You aren't going to stop a professional thief, but you can sure slow down the amateurs.

With something like this you don't need an expensive lightweight bike, get an upper end "department store" bike for two or three hundred and you'd be set.. Wear the bike out and then just buy another..

I've even seen these types of engines on a bike trailer so you could carry a pretty good load..

6. I was crushed when my Cannondale was stolen, from right outside work.
I'm riding an old Specialized Rock Hopper, right now, and hoping to get a Cannondale Bad Boy hybrid mountain/urban soon. I have been bike commuting the ten mile round trip to my video editing client for a year and a half now and it has made all the difference in my ability to progress in snowboarding, and to lose 35 pounds.

My wife still drives to her work, but I am happy to be able to keep us to a one vehicle family with my bike riding.

Denver is very bike friendly, thank Krishna.
