Update: McCain rejects Hagee's endorsement
David Edwards and Muriel Kane
Published: Thursday May 22, 2008

One McCain endorser says Hitler was doing "God's work" while another gains reputation for wanting to destroy Islam Presidential candidate John McCain has been embarrassed in the past few weeks by the statements of right-wing Pastor John Hagee, whose endorsement he actively sought and still said he was glad to have.

But on Thursday he finally rejected the pastor's endorsement, CNN reports.

Hagee has called the Catholic Church "the great whore" and has said that Hurricane Katrina was sent by God to punish New Orleans for an intended gay pride parade. Now newly revealed audio tapes of sermons from the 1990's show Hagee claiming that Hitler was doing "God's work" by forcing the Jews to return to Israel. Hagee has denied that his remarks constitute approval of Hitler any any way and claims he is being mischaracterized.

"I obviously find the remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible and a repudiate them," McCain said in a statement released late Thursday afternoon.

1. But did he denounce him?
Edited on Thu May-22-08 02:58 PM by annabanana
Will he have to do it on every single idiot TV outlet for the next two weeks... and at the top of every hour on the Networks for the next month?

3. I think I heard the word "renounce"
So it was all right for Hagee to call the Catholic Church "the great whore," but it's not OK to offend the Jews, as far as McCain is concerned.

Ah, McCain, you're such an obvious suckass.

5. Yeah, now that he won the primary. How fucking convenient.
And the article says he was embarrassed by this? What? I haven't heard a single news outlet mention this story.

6. Not good enough.

We need to know exactly what Hagee preaches. ALL news networks should break into regularly scheduled programming to run his sermons followed by a 3 hour analysis of his words so we can judge for ourselves.

Where's the pastorbation-A-thon?

7. Fortunately for McCain, the MSM never really got ahold of this story
I don't think I've heard the Hitler remarks being brought up on the idiot talking heads shows. I guess denouncing Hagee ahead of time, before the MSM starts covering this (if they ever really cover it) was smart on McCain's part.

9. I guess Hagee finally said something McCain disagrees with?

Considering the rejection came now and not after the "great whore" or New Orleans comments?

10. So the anti-gay comments weren't enough ?
It took Hagee going all the way down into the "Hitler was good" gutter before McSame got embarrassed?

Too little, too late Senator Senile, sorry. :puke:
