Let's get serious about gasoline prices
With gasoline approaching $4.00 a gallon, perhaps it is time to ask our Congressmen to have some serious discussion concerning one way to solve that problem.

The place to start is to nationalize the oil fields and wells. Oil is a natural resource. Why should a small band of thieves own all of it instead of the American people ? It costs $7 to pump out a barrel of oil. If our government pumped it -- they could sell it to Exxon for $135 a barrel. The difference -- about $128 per barrel -- would go into the general revenues instead of into the pockets of a few greedy scoundrels. What's wrong with that ?

1. The only thing wrong with it
Is that Exxon is one of the people running the gov't.

Besides, why would we want to continue to use oil?

2. Interesting idea. Why are our natural reasources owned
by the elite, and feed to us at gouging prices?

3. Whoa, now...
Them's fightin' words, where I come from.

If you think it's bad now, just wait and see what will happen if production is nationalized.

4. People are still trying to pay off their heating bills from the winter.

The government stepped in to help the reckless lenders, but working people are pretty much screwed. I like the way you think.

5. I'm with you...
I'm tired of oil execs telling us that only private corporations can drill for and pump oil.

Energy is a national-security concern, and leaving decisions to a president and vice-president with business ties to the 9/11 attackers is pure insanity.

7. I'm not sure, but 1 think you can conclude for sure ~
the Bush administration is powerless to deal with the price hikes. There is absolutely no doubt, high gas prices are the worst thing that could happen to Bush & the Repubs.

Every time gas prices go up, Bush's approval ratings go down by the same amount. It's an inverse relationship.

The incumbent party gets absolutely HAMMERED when things like this happen. It spells the death of the their chances of staying in. History shows this clearly.

Now in terms of nationalizing oil, I'm not sure if it would make a difference. I suspect that price is not the issue here. It's a question of supply.
Not sure, but good post.
