7. I think that is what people are thinking when they say 'a fate worse than death'
I cannot and DO NOT WANT to imagine what it would be like...it is beyond my ability to know, thank god!

5. Sadly even for those that might seem to care today, tomorrow it will
Edited on Thu May-22-08 06:25 PM by AuntPatsy
be nothing more than a fading memory as a new atrocity becomes the horror of the day, human kindness for the most part is momentary as personal needs become more important...

But hey, most of us will feel sad and wish we could do more and perhaps kick this thread but the truth is not enough will do more than feel pity and sorrow for those less fortunate and living horrors unimaginable an does that really help anything, maybe it will, who knows?....

I hope something is done but I don't have high hopes help will come soon enough, after all unless it personally benefits this country our government does not give a damn what occurs to people in foreign countries never mind those who live on our very soil and its policy will continue to be ignore, ignore knowing full well Americans have a short attention span for the most part...

12. I really think they might but caring is all they can give, partly because they are overwhelmed with
other things to worry about closer to home, reality of human compassion and kindness is that it is not all that far reaching as some might wish it was.

10. Anybody remember Winnie Mandela?
Necklacing is a type of execution in which a rubber tyre is filled with gasoline, forced over the arms and chest of the victim, and set alight. It was a common practice in South Africa during the 1980s and 1990s anti-apartheid struggle.

Necklacing sentences were sometimes handed down against alleged criminals by “people’s courts” established in black townships as a means of circumventing the apartheid judicial system. Necklacing was also used to punish members of the black community who were perceived as collaborators with the apartheid regime. These included black policemen, town councilors and others, as well as their relatives and associates. The practice was frequently carried out in the name of the African National Congress (ANC), and was even endorsed by Winnie Mandela, then-wife of the imprisoned Nelson Mandela and a senior member of the ANC, although the ANC officially condemned the practice.

Necklacing has also occured in Brazil, and Haiti, and at least one person was killed by this method in Nigeria during muslim protests over the Muhammad Cartoons.

14. This thread is getting as much attention as did the horrors going on in Du fur..
Again, I have no doubt people might care for a bit and are properly horrified but then again we are citizens of a country who relishes torture techniques, as far as I know I never witnessed the masses of Americans hitting the streets in protest on our government who is guilty of the same if not worse, we didn't stop them, do you think we will band together and stop another government who is simply parroting our own?

17. Not really, history is only repeating itself, we have failed to evolve
and learn from past mistakes as fast as our technology has which includes the computer which has been taught to learn from it's mistakes, we have yet to master that one, sad but true...

15. Oh my gosh this is so important you should start another thread
on the exact same subject. Maybe include a picture in the second or third post. That's sure to generate the kinds of comments you're looking for.
