Should we help Barr "Nader" the Repukes?
Bob Barr just won the Libertarian nomination for Pres.

I know many "Libertarians" who vote repuke because althoug they don't give a rat's behind about any social issues they think the Pukes will keep taxes low. With Barr they have possibly their dream candidate and so do we.

Barr IMO could easily match the showing Nader had in 2000, effectively making large purple states like Florida and Ohio more of an uphill battle for Mclame.

I'm thinking that just like the pukes helped get Nader on the ballot and sent him campaign cash we should consider doing the same.

Barr if he gets any traction whatsoever, will further fracture the fraying Republican coalition that has existed since the Reagan era.

I'm sending him 25 bucks today!

1. Is he going to run on privatizing the freeways and tollways?
A libertarian position.

Seriously, Democrats' time and money is better spent building a movement.

2. I won't send him money but I might put his bumper sticker on my car.

3. NO. Barr will run a well financed campaign
and will get plenty of money from GOPs who are disgusted with Stupid and McSame's pledge to continue Stupid's policies.

Remember, Barr will appeal to all the fools in the GOP who think McSame is some kind of maverick liberal. He will also appeal to fundies, bigots, and old line fiscal conservatives. He will very likely appeal to the rural bigot vote in our own party.

He doesn't need our help. He is going to siphon off votes from both parties.

His candidacy is a dangerous one, in other words.

7. He will not siphon off enough Dem votes to balance out the
damage he does to the right.

In fact, any Dem that is seriously thinking Barr was gonna vote for Mclame anyhow.

12. I not sure he'll get that many disaffected Democratic votes
He's pretty disliked among Democrats due to his pushing the Lewinsky scandal.

4. I might work on his campaign here in GA. He could flip our state.

GA is about the only Southern GOP state that we have a slim shot at.

I believe that helping Barr would be more effective than working for the Democrat.

Also Looneytarians are very entertaining nutcases. High entertainment value.

5. Who will be Barr's Katherine Harris? Who will rig the voting lists?
That's what I want to know.

That said, I'm curious to learn more about Barr. I wonder if it wouldn't be good to steer my right-leaning acquaintances towards Barr. They come to me for my political wisdom (which is hilarious) as it is.

6. I'm not convinced Barr would hurt
McCain disproportionately, given the love shown here for Ron Paul. I suspect Barr will get plenty of support from the left, too.

8. Doubtful
Paul gets love here only in contrast to Bush and those who want a continuation of Bush policies.

When looked at in contrast with anyone in the Dem camp he starts to look ugly real fast.

9. Only from a slim minority that hates both parties and are not politically swift.
People who hang out in political forums are in very small numbers.

10. That minority is not as slim as you might think
because the GOP is in full rebellion against Stupid's policies. Since their own candidate promises more of the same, they will likely defect to Barr in record numbers.

Barr is not Perot. He is a dangerous candidate.

11. I meant from liberals as MonkeyFunk suggested.
I know that the GOP is in disarray. Barr could flip Georgia in our favor.
