The real reason McClellan wrote the book:
One of the tenets of we, the tinfoil hat group, is that the population has no idea of the REAL crimes committed, or the REAL notion for the Presidential Resignation in 1974, or the REAL reasons that the person was, well, 'eliminated'. We think we do, we've rationalized that we do...but we don't. That, I believe, was the message of the film Syriana.

Now, if you ask me, the real reason that Scotty wrote this book is that he knows, or THINKS HE KNOWS, what really happened and he's plenty scared. This would be a good time to write a moderate mea culpa, or W culpa (not so much) and try to get ready for the coming storm.

Or...he's been kidnapped by a consortium of the Left including but not limited to: Michael Kinsley, Jerry Nadler, Nancy Pelosi, Robert Kennedy, Jr., and Jane Fonda. He's been forced to write this book under painful, excruciating torture, again, including but not limited to having to listen to Larry King interview anyone, Tweety interrupting - Politicus Interruptus, and/or wolf Blitzer practice his horrible cadence.

Take your pick...

17. Whistleblower protection?
Will it work any better for him, than for his numerous predecesors under the BFEE, who have all ended up fired or dead?

6. It's an election year, plus Bush's final year in office.
This book wouldn't sell as well at any other time. It's about the moolah.

Here's a lad who might be thinking that much of his future income will be tied up in legal fees.

24. I always figure it goes a little something like this:
Publisher: We'd like to publish a tell-all book about your time with the Bush administration.

McC: Absolutely not! I would never betray my President! I have scruples, you know!

Publisher: We're prepared to offer you a six-figure advance.

McC: Where do I sign?

Always the money, honey.

11. It wouldn't sell at all if the economy wasn't in the toilet and Iraq wasn't a clusterfu**
Scotty's capitalizing on Bush's 28% approval rating. If Bush was anywhere within spitting distance of 50% this book wouldn't even have made it past the first draft.

20. It's not just the money IMO...
he had Rethug credentials for the rest of his life...now he's a loner.

Someone would have given him a cushy job or paid him for 'opinions' or minor 'speechifying'...no, I think there's much more to this than meets the eye.

the fact that they're 'puzzled' means that they KNOW...they're always lying, right?

They KNOW why.

23. It's true...
no excuses from this crowd are acceptable. They were complicit in all of this and mea culpas are really self-serving and flat-out ridiculous.

We'll see what happens from here...
