Let's drill more oil -- but do it differently

This article is about the huge oil field under the US and the new
technology for extracting oil from shale.

The government should set up a program to allow the US Army Corp of Engineers to extract the oil in a manner safe for the environment. All oil recovered should be sold to oil refineries at the prevailing market price. The difference between the approximate $7 it cost to recover a barrel and the market price should go into the general revenue fund.

For instance today oil is quoted at about $130 a barrel. The $123 difference would go into the general fund.

It will cost a few dollars more to extract oil from shale -- but not much. Let us not be conned into thinking that only the pirates a Big Oil can drill it successfully.

1. No....The addict needs to be cured of his addiction.
Let's invest in alternatives.....This just keeps delaying the inevitable.

4. There go the mountains
I'd hate to see what the shale mining will leave as a landscape here in Colorado. Probably something similar to a moonscape. No thanks.

6. No. I think drilling for the last drop of oil on the planet is about as selfish as anything we
could do. Why do you think this generation should have claim to all the oil? Shouldn't some be preserved for future generations? Let's stop the endless wars and invest in new energy sources for the sake of all who follow us.
