Flag pins, Republicans, hypocrisy and cowboy hats

Flag pins have been a weapon in the Republican arsenal since Richard Nixon started wearing one back when. The whole point was to say “I’m a real American and you’re not.”

Republicans have been wearing them ever since. It’s hypocrisy, pure and simple. But is there anything more un-American than today’s Republican Party?

And yes, some Dems wear a pin as a “self-defense” mechanism from idiots in their state or district. Others, like Lou Dobbs, wear one because they’re morons.

I am also offended that virtually all police departments have flag patches on their uniforms. Why? Do they think we’re going to mistake them for Hungarian cops?

Oh yeah -- the cowboy hats thing. There's a saying that goes: “Cowboy hats and hemorrhoids. Sooner or later every asshole gets ‘em.” Same goes for flag pins.

It's almost like we need to be reminded that we are Americans on a daily basis.

when I was about 7 years old and dressed up like Superman, Zorro or Davie Crockett. But I grew out of playing dress up when I was about 11 years old.

Same as the schmucks who dress up in all black and ride Harley's on the weekends. Never quite grew out of dressing up like Superman.

about is kids who are taught that worshiping the American flag is the same as worshiping Jesus or the Confederate flag.

But that comment is not limited to the South. Ignorance exists everywhere. And unfortunately, it's passed down from generation to generation.
