A word about my dumbass, Bush-supporting, relatives
I remember that back when Clinton was bombing Serbia, they were saying that he is a good president and that you have to stand behind your commander-in-chief in wartimes. Now they say he is a disgrace (like Kerry).

1. I gave up trying to understand my repuke relatives in 2004.
It was at a family reunion. My cousins from NYC were all hot and heavy for Bush over Kerry. "But what about lying us into the Iraq war?" I asked. They acknowledged that he did that. "What about the administration lying about air quality at Ground Zero--where you, my fire-fighting family members--were working long hours?" They acknowledged that happened. "So why are you going to vote for Bush again?" "Because we're at war and he's the commander and chief!"

:banghead:

Just try to let it go... your forehead will thank you for it.

2. My parents came to vist this weekend.

Here's some samples:

Me: Do you honestly still think GW is a good President?

Dad: Yes.

Me: The economy? Iraq war?

Dad: That's those damn Democrats fault.

Me: The same Democrats that have been in the minority for the past 8 years?

Dad: That Clinton was horrible.

-My wife now changes the subject before my head explodes....

Take 2:

At a restaurant, Obama shown on CNN speaking.

Me: Take a good look at the next president.

Dad: Ugh. How could he stay with that pastor for 20 years?

Me: Earlier you claimed he might be Muslim. Which is it?

Dad: Was a muslim earlier, than converted....probably.

Me: You get this from Rush?

Mom: OK, let's stop talking about this....

Other than politics it was a nice visit.

3. Many Repubs were saying the reverse at the time
They sounded like we do today about Iraq and Bush**.

Except that despite their "concern", Clinton managed not to entangle us in an endless trillion dollar civil war that cost 4084 American lives and counting.

The RW meme you're missing that supposedly makes sense of these contradictions is "everything changed after 9-11".

To me it simply means that a lot of Americans lobotomized themselves for Bush**...perhaps so they could understand him better.
