Is it me or does it seem like more and more Progressive Christians are coming out?
4 years ago, and every Christian I met was a loud, obnoxious, O'Reilly-esque Dittohead.

Those Christians are still stupid and useless, but I seem to be meeting a lot more Progressive Christians. Folks who are against the war, don't put Abortion in their lists as any kind of criteria, do not like Dubya and think he is ruining their rep.

I wonder if this is a quiet revolution that David Kuo unleashed?

1. There are a lot of progressive, or at least moderate Christians
Unfortunately, the dominance of the riligious right was ALLOWED to happen by the religious center & left.

The media ass-licking of falwell, robertson and their ilk was also a factor.

2. Kuo had less to do with it than disgust did
Edited on Thu May-29-08 01:03 PM by Warpy
I saw that disgust start with the Schiavo fiasco. The real tipping point came when this administration turned a blind eye to the Katrina disaster. The continuation of a vicious and useless war of pure ego has amplified it.

I've recently read stories where Christian teenagers have stopped self identifying as Christians because of the bad feelings stirred up by decades of Dispensationalist hate. If that's also what it took to wake the mainstreamers up, more power to them.

It's high time mainstream Christians started to repudiate the hateful Dispensationalist bullies. There is no Christian solidarity with them, never has been, and it's a great thing they are finally starting to recognize it.

I hope some day the Dispensationalists have been pushed back to the lunatic fringe, that they inspire only pity and laughter, and that the kids can call themselves what they are without fear of being lumped in with them.

3. god has been bastardized..
in this country. If someone says they believe in god they are ridiculed for that belief, even though no one questions what that belief is. It is assumed that those who believe in any kind of god, are all the same. They all lack intellect, and believe in fairy tales. Faith, spirituality, and personal belief are for idiots.

5. Although the Dispensationalist Agenda has been a threat to Atheists for years
The biggest enemy of the dispensationalist Christian is not the Muslim, or the Mainstreamer, but the Atheist - who sees nothing wrong with them demanding the "cure" that Evangelical Christianity "provides."

6. Maybe so.
To be honest, I've been so turned off by religion that I lost most of anything spiritual. It will be a long road if I ever get back to religion as something meaningful in my life I'm afraid. My brain and my anger are in the way currently. It's wierd how much I've been changed by my country's recent step into darkness.

7. This gives me no desire to join them
I'm convinced there is no God - so I don't see the point.

But if more of them follow the aspects of their faith that bring them to the right side of history, then so be it.
