Almost always, because I am a teacher, I post education-related threads about issues affecting our nation's children. Although this thread is once again about education, I believe its message is just as relevant to many of my DU friends who work in other professions/vocations and whose hopes and aspirations are being gradually snuffed out or narrowed in favor of corporate greed and selfishness. Many of you may have lost jobs due to outsourcing. I consider it a blessing to be a teacher and I realize that in many ways, teachers enjoy greater job security and benefits than far too many of our nation's hard-working citizens. It has bothered me a little that my threads may have come across as somewhat selfish. In my one small role in the overall scheme of things, please know that with this message about "swimming upstream", I honor ALL of you, not just teachers!
