You need not have looked further than 2004, when Ron Suskind released The Price of Loyalty: George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O'Neil. O'Neil was a public servant with a golden reputation who was forced out in '02 and had his name dragged through the mud by these people because of charges he made that Bush's economic policies were irresponsible, Bush was unquestioning and uncurious, and the war in Iraq was planned from the first National Security Council meeting. Sound familiar? He was blowing the same whistle on these hyenas back in the day. So was Richard Clarke, whose book was released in the same year. You're just beating your chests about this now that Bush's poll numbers look like Nixon's. Corporations are nothing if not reliable, always taking the lowest, safest approach. Thanks a lot, guys.
Unfortunately, the truly brave and patriotic in this country did not have access to the media's reach when this mad scheme went down. They had to go en masse to historic marches and global rallies which you covered briefly and mockingly, if at all. They had to retreat to the internet to speak and hear the truth in the midst of a silence that seemed to go on forever. But now the truth is finally dawning on all the ignorant little corners of the country. And part of this sick truth is that our corporate media as it now stands is fundamentally at odds with the goals of a just government and a free people. So I hope this is seared into all the little minds who were cheerleading this dash into destruction in '02 and '03. This is what fear and blinded patriotism and acting like a bunch of sheep gets you. There's blood on all our hands now because of your ignorance, and by God, I hope you're ready to work it off.
