Would You Welcome Scott McClellan To The Left?
He says he's considering voting for Obama, he was on "Countdown" tonight, and he's given us this gem of a book.

So, would you welcome hime the left?

Should we give him a show on "Air America" sandwhiched between Lionel and Thom Hartman?

To paraphrase the motto of Ohio, "With the Flying Spaghetti Monster, all things are possible."

But not if it's a token gesture.

There are many ex-republikkans on the left now.

was undecided; maybe he'd vote for Ron Paul, who knows?? But I would welcome anyone who sees the light :-)

17. I watched him on Countdown...
...he looked like a completely different person.

He was relaxed.

If he finds his conscience he will vote it; however, if he is still being harassed by the GOP, he will vote Barr.

...depends on the reception to more of his interviews.

Has he been on FOX yet?

13. It's not a club.
If he decides to think, write and speak according to the values of the progressive left then he'll be a part of it.

It's not to us to welcome him or turn him away.

14. Of course. He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.
And there was John Dean, right after him.

If we are to leave a better world, we must accept contrition. Of course, yes, we embrace him now. His sincerity must be shown, but I think this was an act of courage.

15. Sure. I love John Dean and welcome his sage appraisal of current event.
While I was annoyed at McClellan for all the shit he said, Dean pointed out that the Press Secretary is very much kept out of the loop, by necessity.

I still abhor that he called on Potted Plant Gannon so much, but he WAS on the job. He seemed pretty thoughtful and downright contrite about much on KO. Will give him the benefit of the doubt and welcome him into the fold.

"If someone converts, I'll shake his hand, lead him to the front pew, publically and privately welcome him to the church...

But I'm not going to ask him to lead the choir."

24. How about INSTEAD of Lionel? Lionel fucking sucks.
I mean, Lionel is smart, talented, and very good at what he does. Lionel is a great host-- but a terrible human being.

Scotty can't do any worse.

But anyway...

No.

Scotty only believes in Scotty.

26. No talk show for Scotty, but yes, I'd welcome him to the left. But he's
still a republican in many ways. I think he still holds to the conservative ideals that he had in common with Bush once upon a time. He hasn't gone as far as David Brock yet in declaring himself a democrat.

A person should always be given the possibility of redemption if they sincerely seek it. What Scott has done with his book is a brave and honorable thing.

30. I welcome his candor in breaking ranks
I applaud his conscience coming clean. I knew there was a real human being in there somewhere.

But I do not think he should be rewarded with a job as a representative for the Left. Telling the truth is no more the dominion of the Left than lying is the exclusive domain of the Right.

Scott is speaking out as an American. Kudos to him for doing so.

32. As WH press secretary, it was Scotty's JOB to lie
for the Bush White House. Everyone on DU knew that, and no doubt Scotty knew it better than anyone. If he now claims that he was "duped" by the likes of Cheney and Scooter Libby...well, that was also part of the job description--i.e. allowing himself to be duped by the bigger liars higher up the food chain.

I'd be more impressed with Scotty's repentence if he'd just come out and ADMIT this in so many words.

Worst political mistakes of my life, admittedly. Not a fan of Puffy McMoonface, but he's welcome to sit left of the aisle if he wants.
