I Listened To The Scotty Interviews On Both 'Today' & 'Countdown' And I Watched........
CNN & MSNBC reporting on these interviews and discussion of Scotty and his book.

I saw the RW Bush Talking Heads go after Scotty and noticed that they are all speaking from the same 'talking points' in their attempt to discredit him.

The thought occurred to me that Scotty is well-versed on the Repug Smear Machine. He knows how it operates. How the talking points are generated. How the talking points are disseminated. He's got to have a lot of experience with the smear operation.

If that is so - why doesn't he expose them and their system and nip them in the bud or discredit them?

Say something like - I know they are going to go after me. I bet xxxxx is putting talking points together on me right now. You know that they (explain the process here) and then they (fax / e-mail) them to their talkers list with instructions to ........ Do you notice how they all seem to be on the same topic - that's because ....... I bet that they'll have them saying this about me.

You get the idea - take them out first before they even get a chance to use them against him.

Seems to me that it ought to be real easy for him to immunize himself against these talking points and pundit barbs.

1. It seems to me that the Right Wing talking points and the White House
response was so ridiculous that a grade school kid could have come up with a better explanation. These bullies don't know how to deal as their house of cards implodes - and so their lines sound more crazy every time they open their mouths.

3. I don't think he is concerned about what they have to say. He has found a home with us

and has left them in the dust bin of history. You notice they are not having much effect are they?

The right wing noise machine has gotten rusty and is falling apart. This coming campaign will prove what I'm saying. Nobody gives a shit about them anymore. Who's afraid of the big bad wolf ?

4. I wonder who is next
I thought Scotty would spill the beans. The GOP are so good at lying they almost sound convincing.
But not this time - the party's over.

6. I've heard several call them on the similarities in their talking points.
Andrea Mitchell smacked one bushbot around a bit. It was quite stimulating.

7. It would seem to be a no-brainer doesn't it? But,
remember MSM is part of that right wing echo chamber. I don't believe MSM would give Scotty the time of day right now if Scotty started talking about how the WH controlled the message by giving explicit directions to the cable/network shows and print media.

9. watched one of the Hardball videos and Chris Matthews called Ari on the talking points
everyone saying "puzzled" and other repetions. Ari flustered, well, I was just copying what you just said! Matthews kept a straight disgusted face. He's been on his game lately.

10. I agree with what Olbermann suggested to John Dean.
That this change comes in phases, and as he's attacked he'll be willing to give up more stuff he's either been sitting on or has repressed.

KO said that in the dressing room McClellan mentioned that he is just starting to find out who his friends are.

I don't like the guy any better than I did a week or a year ago but I'll give him this: I think he is sincere. I was impressed when he admitted responsibility for telling lies. I think he is Republican through and through, but I don't think he ever signed up for the whole neocon agenda. I was dismissive of the book as too little too late. But it takes a while to deprogram after coming out of a weird and toxic work environment. So I'm cutting him some slack.

11. He Doesn't Need To Expose What's Already Been Exposed
If the "Mighty Wurlitzer" were so mighty, my bets are that Snotty would still be hiding and wait until this regime was out of power before he tried to cash in. Something happened on the the way...this regime's approval ratings have fallen and the talking points game is no longer working. If it were, his assholiness wouldn't be hovering around 30% popularity and those many promised "upticks" would have occured.

Snotty knows the blast fax game, but he didn't run it...if anything, during his Press Secretary days he probably had to fight it as Rove and his henchmen would go around Snotty to get the points out...leaving him out in the cold.

As has been pointed out in several reports, Snotty was a useful tool in many ways. He purposely was left in the dark on many key issues so as to take the heat for any talking points that backfired. The same now goes for Perino...a bambi in the headlights if we ever saw one.

Snotty doesn't need to point out whose coming after him...we're all seeing it and now anytime the "Mighty Wurlitzer" cranks...it's laughed at and has become less and less effective. I give Jon Stewart a great deal of credit for exposing this...and now others have jumped on the same game.

Lastly, to make the Mighty Wurlitzer play in tune, you need a doscile and coward corporate media. Snotty's revelations have kicked them in the ass...and many aren't happy in being exposed. They're not gonna play the game...the Wurlitzer is now out of tune and few, if any, are listening...most of us are laughing.

13. We Here At DU Are On To The Repug Smear Machine......
We out it every time it goes into gear. We can even predict what they are going to do and say. But we all know that there are still millions of impressionable people out there that believe everything they hear others say and what they read in the paper or get in a chain e-mail. This is why I think Scotty can do us and himself a service if he exposes this 'smear machine'.

Let people know that it is calculated, controlled and sinister. He's already said that he wrote the book to help change the continual campaign mentality. I think it would go a long way of doing that if he was able to provide more insight into how the RW and *Co effectively puts the wheels in motion to attack their critics.

14. You Are Spot On...
The more interesting story here isn't about Snotty vs. booosh or Rove, it's his shots at the corporate media and exposing from the right what we've long known about how this regime has manipulated the media. Hell, I've been posting talking points and other astroturfed crapped on a daily basis here for years...watching Washington Journal is a great way to hear/see them in action. I've also worked within the media and have seen how politics and money always trump truth and integrity.

The smear machine is only effective when it has the corporate media echoing along with it...or what some call the "Mighty Wurlitzer". McClellan has put a wedge between those two egos and it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I've said that you can get a good handle on whose got something to hide here by their attacks on Scott...as they attempt to defend the indefensible.

I give people a lot of credit for picking up on this...I've seen people turn 180 on this regime and repugnicans in general due to the constant lies and distortions and many others are not buying the bullshit anymore. Now let's see if this spreads into the beltway culture...has the boooosh regime overplayed its hand with these people. Stay tuned...

12. Is it just me, or does McClellan seem much more COMFORTABLE...
in these recent interviews. Clips of him on the podium are tough to watch. He's the typical puke spouting the talking points, as someone discussed above. He's robotic and seems as if he's on the verge of breaking in those clips.

In these interviews, the man seems HUMAN. More intelligent and well-spoken.

Speaking the truth rather than spouting lies will do that for you, I suppose. His health - on all levels - much be much better now.

I say good for him. I'm grateful to him and, call me naive, but it makes sense.

In the interview with KO, he gave a reason for doing this that is more powerful than anything anyone has speculated about thus far ($$, clearing his conscious, etc.). He seems to sincerely believe that people really need to understand HOW the system has worked in order for history to not repeat itself through more partisan insanity and domination. The politics of destruction, starting with George H.W. Bush. A history lesson. KO said as much, that he hopes this book becomes part of history classes.

It also makes sense that he would need time to clear the webs of control and propaganda before he could truly see....every step of the way since W got into office...before getting the book out.

I think his intentions are good here. Actually, I honestly don't care what his intentions are (though it helps); he's written the truth we've all known for years and the more the veil can be pulled back from the deceit of this administration, the better.
