American Afternoon with Marc Maron Friday May 30th 2008
By Eric Camille
It’s casual Friday with Marc Maron today and the show is jam packed with guests. Joining Maron is HOUR ONE will be Mark Leyner. Leyner employs an intense and unconventional style in his works of fiction. His stories are generally humorous and absurd. At the sentence level, Leyner uses sprawling imagery and an extravagant vocabulary, bordering on prose poetry. He is credited with co-authoring the screenplay of War, Inc.
Morgan Spurlock will be Maron’s guest in HOUR TWO. Spurlock is an independent documentary film director, TV producer, and screenwriter, known for the documentary film Super Size Me, in which he demonstrated the health effects of McDonald's food by eating nothing but McDonalds three times a day, every day, for 30 days. Spurlock is also the executive producer and star of the reality television series 30 Days.
We’re talking movies to close out the show. James Wolcott will be in studio in HOUR THREE. Wolcott is a journalist, known for his critique of contemporary media. Wolcott is the cultural critic for Vanity Fair and contributes to The New Yorker. Also in hour three will be David Poland. Poland writes TheHotButton.com. Rare among journalists, he doesn't seem to have a jealous or spiteful bone in his body. He strives to be evenhanded and fair and when he gives his opinion, he labels it as such.
