A fact curiously missing from American history and any mention of the Warren Commission

Here's a fact curiously missing from American history and any mention of the Warren Commission: Two of its members were directly responsible for the rise of post-war fascism. Allen Dulles, as a top official of the OSS and CIA, incorporated NAZI war criminals into the CIA from its founding. John McCloy, as High Commissioner for Germany, allowed Klaus Barbie and who-knows-who-else to escape justice. Of course, both men were also barons of Wall Street and Beltway Insiders. We all can see what that means today.

Funny. Dulles was the guy behind the phrase "Banana Republic" from his days with Brown Brothers Harriman. Gen. Smedley Butler couldn't stand his type.

Didn't take long for them to bring their nasty bag of tricks home did it. But then they were probably using them here all along, even before the war. Thanks for the info Octafish!

17. That phrase was originally coined by O. Henry
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banana_republic

But you're correct in linking the name of Dulles to the imperialist exploiting of them (eg: the overthrow of Guatamelan government in 1954)

19. I can argue that point
General "Wild Bill" Donovan, who was one of the founders of the American Legion was on of the coup plotters. He was supposed to lead his army of veterans to Washington using the ploy of their 'Bonus' payment.
Rather than charge him with Treason, FDR made him the head of the OSS in WWII. Donovan was a Knight of Malta and since day one of the OSS and continuing into the CIA, the Knights have been, along with their sister organization, Skull and Bones, one of the primary right-wing reactionary elements in the Intelligence community.

Did they really lose?

36. Memoirs Found in a Bathtub
A great, great book, my Friend.

In Stanislaw Lem's novel, the protagonist searches through the fifth-generation Pentagon in search of an interview. As he goes from room to room in the subterranean building he soon discovers that everyone working in "our" Pentagon is, for all intents and purposes, really working for the Soviets (the book was written in the early 70s, IIRC). Meanwhile, all of the people working for the Soviets in their Pentagon really worked for us.

Ha ha. What joy it is to laugh. Like what a secret society -- call it Conspiracies In Action -- might do to shape history: Truman Never Intended C.I.A. as a Cloak and Dagger Outfit.

I'm not that old, but that was the military style they put on boy scouts. I remember that style hat well, although on kids in scouts and Korean war vets. It has its medals, he was just president, still alive, a right-wing icon who beat the previous democrat, so he'd be in contention for a spot up there.

And, it's a younger Dwight's picture that we don't oft see.

LBJ appointed the Warren Commission and made war for four years.
Nixon was a colleague of Ford, Dulles and other members and made war for six years.
Ford worked for Hoover as part of his service on the Warren Commission and stopped the war.
(Carter won on Watergate and lost on the October Surprise and made "human rights" the cornerstone of our foreign policy.)
Reagan got Hinckleyed and got America to pay the cost to the Boss with war by proxy in Central America.
Poppy Bush was a colleague of Dulles and got a job and made war for four years.
(Clinton cleaned up the mess and balanced the budget.)
Smirko Bush was a son of a Bush and got a job and made war for eight years.

Edit: Can't count and added a bit o' detail.

22. Post-War American leadership in Germany benefitted Wall Street
This is a most sordid history. Unfortunately, the influence of these people and the organizations they served continues to the present day -- unconstitutional pre-emptive war, disregard for human rights, torture, racism and bigotry and a whole lot more of the NAZI influence.

The NAZI Hydra in America

by Glenn Yeadon

A Pledge Betrayed: John McCloy

Before looking further at the evolution of the Control Council, a closer look at General William Draper’s career is needed. As previously mention Draper, while employed at Dillon and Reed was in charge of the Thyssen account. He worked closely with the man in charge of this account with Brown Brothers and Harriamn, Prescott Bush. Draper had a very dark side that extended to the present day. Draper advocated eugenics. The reader should not confuse General William Draper with Wickliffe Draper, the founder of the Pioneer Fund, although they were related. In 1932, William Draper financed the International Eugenics Congress. Doubts remain if Draper was using his own money or money from the Thyssen account or other corporate accounts. Draper helped select Ernst Ruaudin as chief of the world eugenics movement, who used his office to promote what he called Adolf Hitler's holy, national and international racial hygienic mission.

SNIP...

In 1949, John McCloy was appointed High Commissioner of Germany. McCloy was not the first choice. Lewis Douglas, the head of the Finance Division of the Control Council was. However, Douglas agreed to step aside in favor of McCloy. It appears nothing was being left to chance in post war Germany. The governing of post war Germany would be a family affair. The three most powerful men in post war Germany: High Commissioner McCloy, Douglas, Head of the Finance Division of the Control Council and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer were all brother-in laws. All three men had married daughters of the wealthy Fredrick Zinsser, a partner of JP Morgan. The Morgan empire would control the fate of Germany.

What little justice achieved under the Control Council and General Clay would now be rapidly undone. Up until 1940 McCloy had been a member of the law firm Cravath, de Gersdorff, Swaine and Wood. This law firm represented I.G. Farben and its affiliates. In 1940, McCloy was appointed Assistant Secretary of War. At least three other individuals from the same law firm turned up in the War Department. Alfred McCormick and Howard Peterson both served as assistants to the Secretary. Richard Wilmer was commissioned as a colonel after the war started and served in a similar vein.61 Peterson later served as the finance chairman of the National Committee Eisenhower for President, 1951-1953.

The career of McCloy is one sympathetic to fascism and warrants a closer look. Henry Stimson appointed McCloy as assistant secretary of war. Roosevelt had selected Stimson to head up the War Department in 1940 in an attempt to make the war effort a bipartisan effort and to blunt any criticism of the upcoming war by the Republicans. One of the first acts of Stimson upon taking over the War Department was to appoint McCloy as Special consultant to the War Department on German sabotage. Before 1940 ended McCloy was appointed as assistant secretary. As Secretary of State under Hoover, Stimson would surely have been aware of the cartels of I.G Farben and how the Hoover administration aided their formation. McCloy spent most of the 1930s in Paris working on a sabotage case stemming from WWI. In 1936, he shared a box with Hitler at the Olympics.

In one of his first acts as assistant secretary of war, McCloy helped plan the interment of Japanese Americans. Once the war began, McCloy followed the American troops across North Africa. Such travel by an assistant cabinet secretary was highly unusual. However, McCloy’s actions at the time partially revealed his motivation. While in North Africa, McCloy help forge an alliance with the Vichy France and Admiral Darlan.

McCloy continued to follow the advancing allied troops across Europe and into Germany. In the closing days of the war in Europe McCloy made one of his most noted decisions. After sixteen planes bombed, Rothenburg on March 31 McCloy ordered a stop to any further bombing of the city. According to McCloy, his reason was to preserve the historical medieval walled city. Additionally, McCloy ordered Major-General Jacob L. Devers that he could not use artillery in taking Rothenburg. The city would have to be liberated by infantry alone regardless of the cost in lives of GIs.

However, there are a few facts that McCloy and others since have conveniently left out. For instance, just two days before the bombing a German general with his division of troops left battered Nurnburg for Rothenburg. Together with the Nazi forces already stationed there, the general gave the order to defend the city to the last man. Also located in Rothenburg was Fa Mansfeld AG, a munitions maker that employed slave labor from Buchenwald.

By late 1943, the slaughter of Jews was reaching a feverish pace. The allies were then in a position to bomb the concentration camps to stop the slaughter. John McCloy was almost solely responsible for blocking the bombing of the death camps. Allied planes were already bombing the industrial plants associated with Auschwitz. However, McCoy in written memos advanced a bankers' argument that the cost would be prohibitive. Such missions would risk men and planes with little reduction in the Nazis war effort. McCloy even banned the bombing of the rail lines leading to the death camps.

In the late spring of 1944, Morgenthau was pressing the War Refuge Board to find an unused army base or some other haven to serve as temporary homes for a small group of refugees from Italy. Most of the refugees were Jewish. The question was put to McCloy, who responded brusquely that it wasn’t the Army’s business to take care of refugees. Morgenthau was outraged at McCloy’s response and presented it at a cabinet meeting with Roosevelt in attendance. Roosevelt stated that under no circumstances should those people be turned away. Stimpson dictated a memo after the cabinet meeting that someone had accused McCloy of being an oppressor of Jews. McCloy confronted Morgenthau on the charge. Morgenthau didn’t confess the remark directly but happily exploited McCloy’s discomfort. McCloy soon responded to Morgenthau that Fort Ontario in Oswego, New York could accept 1800 refugees.141

The average American at the time would probably have granted the Jews sanctuary in the Untied States if he was aware of the truth. The fact is evidence of the Holocaust was kept from the average citizen and even from Roosevelt himself. The State Department would often wait for months before forwarding memos of evidence of the slaughter on to Roosevelt. By the time, Roosevelt read the memos it was too late to act on the intelligence in the memo. The prominent newspapers of the times either did not print a single line about the Holocaust or at best relegated a few lines to the back pages. In 1943, an eyewitness described Auschwitz to Supreme Court justice Felix Frankfurter. Frankfurter was Jewish but refused to believe the report.

for Nazi sympathizers and other WWII era war criminals to get around our laws against harboring them after the war.

Also look into the "business plot", our parasite class (which is simply a branch of the European parasite class) has pursued the same goals for generations, they funded the Nazis rise to power in Germany and nearly all of the worst despots and dictatorships all around the world since the 19th century.

We have been warned time and again, decade after decade, if your children live under the thumb of parasites it is because you allowed it to happen.

30. Killing the Hydra required Teamwork

On his second labor, Herakles battled the Hydra. Like something out of H.P. Lovecraft, the monster had nine snake heads, including one which was immortal. Herakles lured the beast from its cave with fire. For each head he clobbered, it would grow back two new ones. After cutting off a couple of heads, the guy realized this problem was getting bigger. So Herakles called his trusted nephew, Iolaus, into the fray. As Herakles chopped off the heads, Iolaus would immediately torch the wound to cauterize and seal the body. With poison blood and poison, that must of been some sight. They kept on-mission, though. And soon, there was only the immortal head left. That got chopped and buried under a big rock.

The enormous NAZI Hydra in America needs to be exposed, cut-off and buried under a mountain of Truth. Those still affiliated and benefitting from their NAZI ties should be be brought to justice. Our best weapon is the Truth.

No one can do this job alone -- not me, not Henry Morgenthau, Jr. nor even President Obama. Nor is what I do anything great other than my duty as a citizen. Thus, I am part of a team of Truth-Seekers and Truth-Speakers. What we want is for the nation and world to know that what happened in Dallas almost half a century ago impacts us very much today. We went from a President who made peace his priority to a pretzeldent who said "Money trumps peace."

I am so proud of President Obama, who I believe has begun standing up to the War Party. Let's see where the next four years lead.

PS: Thank you for the kind words, H20 Man. The same goes for you. And I'd be proud to be your sidekick.

proud to be on the same team with you. Though I'm getting old, and do not seem to have even a fraction of the energy I used to, my wife reminds me (frequently) that this is simply a part of the life process, and that I should appreciate the chance to pass on lessons to younger folks. And I think the majority of DUers recognize that your OPs are valuable sources of accurate information.

A friend told me to watch for the May 26 release of Richard Ben-Veniste's book, "The Emperor's New Clothes: Exposing the Truth from Watergate to 9/11." There are times when I've had mixed feelings about his efforts, perhaps most recently on the 9/11 Commission. But I am led to believe that he was upset by the amount of lying that others represented as accurate then, and that this book is his effort to document the outrageous lies that he has confronted during his career. I suspect that there will be, at the very least, portions of this book that you will enjoy. Have you heard anything about it?

44. "About Mae"
From DUer RUMMYisFROSTED:

"About Mae"
1922 - 1988

Born in Beverly Hills 1922, Mae Brussell was the daughter of prominent Wilshire Boulevard Temple Rabbi Edgar Magnin and great-granddaughter of Isaac Magnin, founder of the I. Magnin clothing stores.
By the time President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 Mae was married with five kids and living in Southern California. Like many Americans, she wasn't convinced that Lee Harvey Oswald had acted alone in the assassination, so she bought the 26-volume Warren Commission Hearings and began reading, filing, and cross-indexing. With the massive addition of books, articles, and government documents, Mae not only found connections to the CIA and Germany, but began to see relationships to many other current and past events throughout the world.
Mae began to realize that the international terrorist network that made up the Axis powers during World War II had effectively gone underground and continued their worldwide fascist campaign even before the War had officially ended; As one country after another changed hands, Mae recognized many of the same familiar names, methods, and tactics that were used to swallow up Germany in the 1920s and 1930s.
Unfortunately this growing list of countries does not exclude the United States; Most anything Americana is being infiltrated, raped, murdered, infected, poisoned, or deregulated. As Mae stated at the University of California in Santa Cruz: "What is happening to us is a classical case of totally destroying us. And by the same people who've been at the top doing it since World War Two."
In June of 1971, after seven years of research and now living in Carmel, California, Mae appeared as a guest on KLRB, a local FM radio station independently owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bob and Gloria Baron. Mae discussed her views on political assassinations and the New York Times release of the Pentagon Papers. The response was so good she became a regular weekly guest and before too long had her own show Dialogue: Conspiracy. (She later changed the name to World Watchers International hoping it would spread like Weight Watchers did.) Almost every week for seventeen years Mae shared with her audience her voluminous daily research in her rapid-fire, no-holds-barred style.
Occasionally Mae's research produced predictions with stunning accuracy:

*On May 28, 1968 Mae confronted Rose Kennedy at the Monterey Peninsula Airport and handed her what she said was a poem, but actually a note telling her Robert Kennedy would soon be assassinated. A week later Senator Kennedy was shot to death at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.

*A month before Ted Kennedy's Chappaquiddick incident Mae warned his office of "the nest of rattlesnakes" that surrounded him and his upcoming bid for the White House.

*Two weeks before the SLA kidnapped Patty Hearst she told a Syracuse University audience that the SLA shooting of black school superintendent Marcus Foster was just the beginning of what would be terror and psychological sabotage in the same vein Germany had been subjected to in the 1930s.

*In August 1977 (broadcast #282) Mae discussed Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple move to Guyana. She speculated that this might be a training camp for assassination teams – this was more than a year before 913 members of the church were massacred.

*But Mae's most shocking crystal ball research was probably her March 29, 1981 evening broadcast when she spent much of the hour listing the reasons she believed the Reagan White House were at war with one another and asked who will kill off their team members first. The following morning President Reagan was shot in Washington D.C.

In addition to Mae's close friends and weekly listeners, she corresponded and networked with such people as Jim Garrison, Col. L. Fletcher Prouty, and Larry Flynt. Her first published article in Paul Krassner's The Realist was actually financed by John Lennon. And Frank Zappa once gave her a computer for filing and cross-indexing her research (but she never used it).
There were times when death threats drove Mae off the air: once by Charles Manson family member Sandra Good in September 1975. Sometimes Mae resorted to recording her shows at home on her small cassette tape recorder and privately mailed out copies to her subscribers.
Many of the articles Mae wrote tackled subjects that to this day remain unparalleled by anyone in the United States. The epitome of Mae's journalism "The Nazi Connection to the John F. Kennedy Assassination" appeared in Larry Flynt's premier issue of The Rebel magazine in November 1983.
Her countless list of German and White Russian fascist fingerprints to President Kennedy's assassination reached its peak in May of 1988 when she discovered the name "Adolf H. Schicklgruber" handwritten in Marina Oswald's notebook of poetry in the Warren Commission exhibits.
In 1983 Mae's show was picked up by listener-sponsored KAZU FM in nearby Pacific Grove. Five years later she was forced off the air, for the last time, from death threats but continued sending out her weekly tapes to subscribers until June 13, 1988 (tape #862).
Mae died of cancer on October 3rd of that year. She was 66.

45. Dulles thought few Americans would want to read the Report.
Allen Dulles, Warren Commission member, fired by JFK as CIA Director:

"But nobody reads. Don't believe people read in this country. There will be a few professors that will read the record...The public will read very little." -- (September 6, 1964, Warren Commission internal memo)

40. Dulles got to have the final say on the record re: how Kenedy was killed
Edited on Fri May-01-09 11:03 PM by truedelphi
Some think he is guilty of helping plan it. But history records him as having a deciding vote on how Kennedy's death is portrayed.

Here is a brief synopsis of his life (Dulles that is)
Allen Welsh Dulles (1893-1969) was a politician, lawyer, intelligence official, and former director of the CIA. He was born on April 7, 1893 in Watertown, New York His father was a Presbyterian minister and he was a grandson of a Secretary of State. He worked as a spy at the US embassy in Bern, Switzerland during World War I. He later worked with his brother, John Foster Dulles, as a lawyer and international finance specialist for the Wall Street law firm Sullivan & Cromwell. While working here he made many connections with key Nazi industrialists. He was legal counsel for the mega-corporations The Standard Oil Company and I.G. Farben.

Dulles was responsible for negotiating the agreement with Reinhard Gehlen, which formed the Gehlen Organization, in which the former Nazi spy chief set up operations gathering intelligence on the Soviets within the Office of Strategic Services. He was also important in the formation of the CIA, and he became Deputy Director of Intelligence in 1951.

In 1953, Dulles became Director of Central Intelligence. His first major action was overthrowing the democratically elected leader of Iran, Mohammed Mossadegh, who had nationalized the Iranian oil industry. He was an important figure in the 1954 overthrow of Jacobo Arbenz Guzman in Guatemala, as he served on the board of the United Fruit Company. This put an end to democracy in Guatemala, as the right-wing dictatorship was restored. He ordered the assassination of Patrice Lumumba, the prime minister of Congo, as was concluded by the Senate's Church Committee in 1975.

President John F. Kennedy dismissed him from his position as DCI after the failed The Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961. He was a member of the Warren Commission, and helped promote the "lone gunman" theory on Kennedy's assassination. Dulles wrote several books on foreign affairs and intelligence, including Germany's Underground (1947), The Craft of Intelligence (1963), and The Secret Surrender (1966). He died of influenza in Washington, D.C. on January 29, 1969.

48. McCloy and Dulles called the shots...
...when the Warren Commission was setting up its staff, among other things. Chief Justice Warren wanted Warren Olney to serve as Chief Counsel. McCloy, Ford and Dulles didn't like the idea. McCloy suggested Leon Jaworski.

The Kennedy Assassination Cover-Up

Donald Gibson

EXCERPT…

The McCloy-Dulles Commission
The Real Pecking Order

EXCERPT… pp. 91

Warren stated that his choice for general counsel was Warren Olney, Director of the Administrative office of the Federal Court System. Warren went on to make a lengthy and strong argument in on behalf of Olney. Warren's case for Olney included Warren's long-term relationship with an in-depth knowledge about Olney, Olney's family background, Olney's diverse and extensive legal experience, his military service, his familiarity with FBI and Secret Service operations, and Warren's high praise for Olney's ability and integrity. This was not a casual recommendation; Warren clearly wanted Olney. Senator Russell was agreeable and Boggs, who knew and respected Olney, immediately expressed definite support.

Gerald Ford was the first to state an objection, saying:
I look upon this group just as Mr. McCloy does, with a very major responsibility, and I want it to have the finest aura or atmosphere. And when the report is written I certainly hope it can be unanimous, it can be the full judgment of all of us. I don't want the Commission to be divided. I don't want it to be your Commission or the Commission of half of us or otherwise.

Ford did not explain why he was concerned about the danger of a divided Commission. He mentioned consensus and a fine aura but not the discovery of the truth. He went on to emphasize that if someone, like Olney, with a long association with Warren were appointed, it would lead people to view the work of the Commission and its report as Warren's rather than the group's.

Ford framed his objection in the context of concerns he shared with McCloy. McCloy immediately added his objection to Ford's, arguing that the Commission should give consideration to a number of people. McCloy had his own list of candidates, which he said were people "of my experience." Warren quickly asserted that he had proposed Olney because Olney was someone of his own experience. Warren was ignored by McCloy. Among the names on McCloy's list were Leon Jaworski and Tom Dewey.

The discussion continued with Boggs supporting Warren. Cooper offered a compromise that was first supported by and then modified by Boggs. The compromise was to pick a different chief counsel, but allow Warren to bring Olney in as a chief of staff. Russell later gave some support to Warren by suggesting that Olney could be brought in immediately as an "Executive Officer." After this, Warren again spoke for Olney and Russell again supported him.

Russell then introduced the idea of appointing a subcommittee to consider the selection of a chief counsel. Ford supported this proposal and, before the session ended, a subcommittee of Warren, Dulles, McCloy, and Ford was given the job of coming up with a recommendation. Warren made and additional strong plea for Olney.

The men who later expressed some misgivings about the Commission's report, Russell, Boggs, and Cooper, all gave some support to Warren. McCloy and Ford, who had expressed his concern with reference to views shared with McCloy, opposed Olney. Interestingly, and perhaps significantly, McCloy and Ford were not the first people to express an opposition to the Chief Justice's choice. Two days earlier, on December 3, Alan Belmont, the man running the FBI's investigation, raised this issue at the end of a memo to Clyde Tolson, assistant to J. Edgar hoover. Belmont's memo stated that
Katzenbach said that he had been talking to Chief Justice Warren, and Warren had indicated to him taht the chief counsel for the President's Commission will be Warren Olney. Katzenbach thought that this would be most undesirable. Katzenbach said that, as we probably knew, Chief Justice Warren thinks that Olney can do no wrong, and he (the Chief Justice) had made the point that Olney is conversant with the FBI's procedures and thus would be operating in a familiar field. Katzenbach said if we have any ideas as to how Olney can (be) blocked as chief counsel, he would like to have them. I told him, as far as I was concerned, Olney was an undesirable choice, and if we had any thoughts we would get them to him.

Here we have one of the participants in the first stage of a cover-up, Alan Belmont, rying to figure out a way to influence an important decision in a later stage. Whether Katzenbach was expressing his own views or, as in other instances, the views of others cannot be determined. It is possible that one of these two, or someone associated with one of them, communicated directly o indirectly with McCloy or Ford, or both. That might explain the manner in which objections to Olney were first expressed, i.e., Ford referencing McCloy and McCloy immediately joining with Ford in opposition to Olney. That suggests that Belmont shared his info with McCloy, allowing McCloy to prepare his case against Olney.

Gee. Why would anyone object to Warren's choice to lead the investigation? I bet it was because he was a man of integrity.

51. CIA hired Mafia to kill Castro.
CIA tried to get Mafia to kill Castro: documents in 1960 -- before JFK was even elected President. Perhaps the CIA ordered the Mafia to turn its sights elsewhere. I wonder who ordered CIA around?

How do we get out? Bring everything hidden about the assassination of President Kennedy into the light of day. As there is no statute of limitation on murder or treason, we may find evidence needed to proceed with a thorough and complete investigation and prosecution of those responsible who are still alive. We also might know the names of the dead who were involved.

In either case, We the People would know "Who did what?" and "Why?" Once we know the truth, then we could do whatever is required to make the future ours, rather continuing down this NAZI path we find America on.

50. If I'm not mistaken Allen Dulles was also instrumental,
along with his brother John Foster Dulles (one of the primary architects of the Vietnam War), in the coup that took Mossadeqh out of power in Iran, replacing him with the Shah... and thereby laying the groundwork for the Iran of today, rather than the democratic Iran that Mossadeqh had helped create.

No wonder Islamic terror groups are being linked to fascists... they share a common heritage link to Allen Dulles...

You are absolutely correct about those heritage groups.

UNOCAL luvs Afghanistan and Iraq. It's just a coincidence, I'm told, that Kean's role wasn't publicized to the point where the common fellow would remember it for later conversation. Guess that's what happens when guys like Zelikow get to write up the official history.

Remember that bizarre flight of Air Force to Nebraska on 9-11, and the meeting he had there with some business types? I'm pretty Kean was there.

I was thinking of the staffers, though. Condi's boy Friday wrote the report, and culled from review things he didn't want addressed.
