The Republicans seem to have officially adopted a Small Tent theory

of ideological purity in response to Specter's defection. In fact, if their tent gets much smaller, there will be room for only one dickhead at a time in there, at which point it will be indistinguishable from a condom.

I mean, what's stopping the Dems now? I keep hearing that the right is dead and yet we're still talking about them, over and over and over and over. Instead of asking the big question: so, if the right has been defeated, why don't we have leaders declaring we can now institute UHC, slash the absurd defense budget, appoint progressives, improves access to abortions and birth control, stop dealing with Saudi masters, all the things we said we wanted?

So. What's stopping 'em now, since the Republicans have been reduced to a pathetic small tent (which they have, you're correct)?

As the Republican party becomes irrelevant, the Democratic party is now in charge of preserving the power and privilege of the Owner Class.

9. Yeah. Watch the pattern of contributions shift to the DLC types.

My standard line was that the Democrats are 75% sold out, but the Republicans are 100% sold out, and the difference was worth voting for. The moneyed interests are now buying up most of the remaining 25% of the Democratic Party. They will have trouble with a few, like Feingold, Obey, Whitehouse, Sanders (OK he's not a Dem), but for the most part, watch our guys get co-opted now.
