Why I'm indifferent to Ann Coulter
Let's get real. Yes, she's a vile harpy, but her verbal vomit is so preposterous and downright stupid that sane people couldn't care less what she has to say. Her strategy is to get attention, and she's savvy enough to know that the ONLY was for her to succeed is to wear short skirts and take positions that are marginal and untenable. If she was a real threat, FOX noise would give her a show, but even they must realize she's so asinine and annoying that her audience would last about a week.
(OK..I know I've just contradicted my subject line)

2. Ann Coulter?
She's just about slipped from my memory, sort of like a bad 80s sitcom that only lasted one season.

4. I'm indifferent to her stupidity as well
what bothers me is when she's booked on shows as if she were credible or there were a reason to listen to her.

I"m more upset with the media that pretends to take her seriously.

5. Under normal circumstances I'd agree with you.
However, circumstances have not been normal in this country since about the time of Reagan and the rise of Rush Limbaugh. The rabid RW fringe is now the mainstream of the GOP and their crazy ideas have become an acceptable part of the national discourse.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H. L. Hunt (you possibly know his background), a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1954

And yet, now, the idea of abolishing Social Security is discussed as though it had merit. So no, I don't take Ann Coulter or any of them lightly. Because their rabid followers don't.

10. Agreed, but she doesn't even have a phony veneer of credibility
Right wing think tanks produce droves of assholes who appear logical to the audiences they are awarded by the MSM. Coulter isn't one of them.

7. well, sadly she has an audience
I was about to say her audience is not sane, but I don't wish to disrespect the insane.

While I do not wish to give her (and Beck, Rush, etc.) undue attention, to ignore these people gives them another kind of power. I ignored and laughed off Rush when he first appeared, assuming that no sane or rational person would buy his crap, and now he's practically the head of the GOP and a (sadly) capable propagandist.

Also, consider that the extreme voices in the GOP push this country and both parties further right by making the slightly less warped among them sound more rational in comparison. To use a recent analogy, it's like how torturing someone is acceptable because at least we aren't beheading people.

12. Indifference Is The Perfect Response To Coulter.

She's the ultimate "There's No Such Thing As Bad Publicity" gal; liberal ranting just encourages her. Everybody, continue to pay her no mind----trust me, it will be torture for her......

13. She failed in FOX's failed attempt to have a comedy show a la John Stewart
They aired exactly one show and called it a bad day.

14. The big problem I have with Coulter
and any of the other Republican "entertainers" is that they have such a high profile. They are popular and that gives validation to anyone who harbors bigotry and hate.

There are people out there who are stupid enough to believe that because Ann says it that must make it okay.

16. Ann Coulter has no influence among anyone who matters.
Her only audience is firmly set in its reactionary ways. They will not change their opinion, ever. So, let the anorexic witch blab on. Her books aren't selling the way they once did, and the political tide has turned.

All she can do is become more and more abrasive and shrill, which will do nothing to gain her new followers. She is finished as an influence on US politics, if she ever was one.

Only freepers are left for her to address.
