Discover Card email scam:
I just received the following email purported to be from Discover Card's Fraud Division.
It is not!

"Dear Discover Cardmember:

This is not a promotional e-mail. Please call us immediately at 1-877-866-2808 regarding recent activity on your Discover Card Account. We're available 24/7 to take your call.

Please disregard this e-mail if you've already call us since the date this e-mail was sent.

We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Thank you
Discover Card Fraud Prevention Security Department"

I called the number and they wanted me to enter my card number.
No. Way.
I called Discover.
It's a phishing scam.

If you received it, call Discover.
They will ask you to save the email and you'll be called with an email address to forward it to.{/b]

1. I always recommend hunting up the phone numbers to banks/cards you deal with
Use your own phone list and ignore the ones sent by email. If your institution suspects a problem they will most likely call and not email you. Use the phone numbers YOU have or look up and let THEM know there is an email scam going on so they can deal with it. They spend lots of $$$ on lawyers to protect themselves and their customers. Give them info and let them do their stuff!
