A consensus seems to be building that Republicans should go to charm school.
I am picking up lots of vibes from different sources that Republicans are starting to understand that the snarling pit bull image they have cultivated for the last twenty years may not be serving them well any longer.

Joe Scarborough is introspective, talking as usual about St. Ronnie Raygun and his "temperament" being what drew people to him. Yesterday, Jack Kemp's death was reminding people of the "sunny warrior". We read all these articles about the need for the Republicans to "rebrand" themselves.

The good news is that I do believe we will start to see the demise of the real hate jockeys like Coulter and Limbaugh and Hannity et al. Their replacements will be the "kinder, gentler" brand of new and improved Republicans.

But, it is not just the Republican temperament that is askew, it is their policies. I don't care how much people smile and slap me on the back as they cut my wages, deny me healthcare, pollute my environment, take my dividends, dismantle my government and poison my food.

The Republican schism with wage earning Americans is too large to be corrected by a little tooth whitener.

4. It's not sincere.
The GOP are as masterful at lying as they are at lawbreaking.

Wasn't there a list of the phases that an abuser goes through? The GOP are now in the "honeymoon phase."

5. It won't work. Boss Limbaugh wouldn't make tens of millions of dollars
if he was charming.

8. We're Moving From Denial To Resignation...
It took a while, but the rushpublican 12-step program drags on slowly. Not enough of an intervention, however. After months of denying they've lost power, influence and the election, these asshats are now starting to wake up to the ashes all around them. You've got the "new faces" like Jebbie Booosh and John McCain attempting to pull what's left of this corrupt party out of the ditch...all while the front wheels continue to dig in deeper. The scene is set...get some popcorn, the fun's about to begin it's the "fight for the "soul" of the rushpublican party".

Just like many of us here, after a while, you get sick of losing and getting your ass kicked and start to adjust one's behavior and ideas. The Democrats had 40 years of ideas built up that are now coming to the fore...the rushpublicans...not so much. They have a long discovery process ahead and many still are blind to how out of the mainstream they are. While their meme that "conservativism didn't lose" or that this country is "right of center"...they're starting to see that their "ideology" has them totally out of the loop now. President Obama isn't the push-over they thought he was and is about to ram some serious whoop-ass on them.

They tried to invent populism...be it Not Joe the Non-Plumber or teabagging...but all it exposed was how unorganized and clueless they are. The longer they remain this way, the better for our country and the world.

government from a school board to the Supreme Court. You can't make personality stars out of people who want to rob you of your children for corporate purposes, steal your vote, and flush you down the bathtub.

This 'make nice' reminds me of what's her name - (Paula Jones - I really couldn't remember it for awhile). The Rutherford Institute/Foundation (I have no problem remembering them) funded her makeover and paid for an advisor to show her how to speak - travelling with her to press conferences and speaking engagements. She had a full time coach for awhile.

11. The conversion of the schoolyard bully is always suspect.
Now he wants to be class president, but all you can remember is him throwing rocks at dogs and shaking down second graders for lunch money. He's "changed", but you've already glimpsed what's at the core.

Republicans will need at least 10 years (possibly longer) for the institutional memory of their antics/crimes to fade.
