Well lookee who!. . Dan Abrams just popped up on MSNBC again.
I haven't seen much of him since the show wherein he was dogging the B*sh so-called Justice Department and their miscreants!

Today's talk was about the "cover for torture" memos written by the OLC under Ashcroft & Gonzales..

Ashcroft seemed more comfortable with the decisions (Gonzales admitted to it being a "close call") But they both brought it back to: "based on what the law was at the time, these were merely statutory questions". . Of course there were no such statutes at the time.. so it doesn't hold water.

They still don't think what we did was torture "They had a different legal analysis". . Still splitting hares.. They both claimed that Nixon was wrong to say "If the President does it, it's not illegal". .but they split hairs to within an atoms' width in trying to define the difference between what Nixon said & what Bush did...

Did they have any regrets?
They both regretted that they "didn't explain their policies better". . Dear God.

(There's a link on Dan's twitter page to the whole interview)

1. They explained their policies perfectly. Just ask those who survived the torture.
Absolutely no confusion there.

7. How did "water boarding" become legal
Edited on Mon May-04-09 11:32 AM by Winterblues
It was illegal before the Bush* Cabal came to Power and there is plenty of History to show proof of that. Many people over the years were prosecuted for "water boarding". It is my understanding that Congress creates Law and the President then signs them into being. I don't recall Congress creating anything that would reclassify "water boarding" as no longer illegal. How did the Law get changed? And is it still legal to water board people in America?
