Son of pompous ass Chris BUCKLEY takes pompous ass-ism to new heights, depths, whatever
Edited on Mon May-04-09 10:09 AM by UTUSN
His "In Depth" (3 hours) exercise in narcissism was on for background noise yesterday for a half hour or so.

One of his milestones in the yakfest was that he told his mother on her deathbed that he "forgave her." Super.

Then, within the space of about five minutes, he managed to cram in about three or four repetitions that he, his very own self, had --GASP!1-- endorsed OBAMA, adding at one point that he wouldn't have had the stones to do it while his old fart of a father was alive.

And there was some drama about some metal cross that played a role in his being a lapsed Catholic that ended up in the cemetery although his mother had clearly not wanted this-or-that at her burial.

Oh, and how he and his paw were "sticky" on their long distance sailing.

His old man was irritating enough with his pretentious mannerisms.

1. Where was this, and if it was on TV,
why did you watch it?

He's a very clever fellow, Chris Buckley, has written some delightful novels, and one in particular, "Thank You For Smoking," was made into a very funny movie.

He's hawking a book he's written about his parents, both of whom were very interesting creatures, even if you didn't like them - I didn't. There was a very long excerpt from it in the NY Times magazine last week - those anecdotes you referenced were in there.

When you consider Buckley's background, National Review, and all that, you'd see that his endorsement of Obama, was, in fact, a very big deal. He left the NR because of it. Yes, a big deal.

So, if he bothers you that much, why did you watch it? (Assuming that you're talking about something on TV)
