Man blasts wife with shotgun after tumbling down a rabbit hole
A woman is recovering in hospital after being shot by her husband in a freak accident beside a fishing lake.

Mandy Hudson, 49, was walking with husband Jon, 47, when he stumbled down a rabbit hole and his shotgun went off.

She was blasted in the ankle at close range at around 7.30am on Saturday at Bromeswell Lakes near Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Mrs Hudson, a health worker who runs the lakes with her husband, was taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital.

7. They think the ground jarred it
enough to go off, even with the safety on. This actually sounds like a completely unavoidable accident, provided he was walking with his gun safely as the article says.

8. That shouldn't happen. Never from standing height. If it did a lawsuit is in order.

11. Have to be
Either actually an accident or he is a really lousy shot.... But gun should not be able to go off that way...Unless he had finger on the trigger.

14. "Finger on the trigger" is probably exactly right.

Which any competant shooter will tell you is a Very Bad Thing (TM), but some foolish people do anyway.

Personally I never carry a chambered weapon unless I have to, and always keep the safety on regardless. You can't be too careful when it comes to guns.

9. Sorry, epic fail! If you have a gun you should know how to transport
it safely. No excuses. If you can't transport it safely, you have no business owning it!

Stupid shit!

12. It happened in England.
They'll confiscate and melt down the firearm.

Mr. Hudson have to undergo court ordered psychiatric evaluation for having a shotgun.

Mrs. Hudson will be drawing public assistance for the rest of her life.

British game and public safety officials will respond by cordoning off the wretched hole, placing an armed guard nearby and/or sealing it off whilst reviewing CCTV video tapes in search of the leporidae responsible for this heinous act.
