What do you think? I hope they (employees) kick ass in court.

1. i always thought 'private' meant that.
but times seem to have changed -- and i'm not sure 'private' isn't extinct.

4. Go yapping on MySpace or Facebook, etc. and that's what you're going to get

There are actually companies out there that specialize in snooping around and finding info on employees and prospective employees.

Not a bright idea.

6. There's no reasonable expectation of privacy on those sites.

7. Then They're Not Private
I don't have a MySpace or Facebook account, and I never will.

8. Nope- when you advertise yourself of the web- that's pretty much fair game
and like you, I have no intention of getting a MySpace or Facebook account.

9. They were badmouthing their employer on the internet.
Someone in the "private" chat room ratted them out to management. Management didn't steal the password, some fink gave it to them, or provided printouts of the conversations that demonstrated employee misconduct.

I don't think they've got a case. It's no different than a couple of employees having a gossip in the break room, or even offsite, and another employee hearing the conversation and running to the boss to report what they said.

I couldn't get that link to load, but I found the story here: http://news.aol.com/article/fired-over-myspace-postings/462262
