Pat Robertson: Gay marriage first step on path to child molestation

http://rawstory.com/08/news/2009/05/08/pat-robertson-gay-marriage-first-step-on-path-to-child-molestation/

In yet the latest volley by conservative Christian political figures to attack the passing of same sex marriage laws, Christian Coalition chief Pat Robertson declared Thursday that gay marriage is “just the beginning in a long downward slide in relation to all the things that we consider to be abhorrent.”

On an interview on the Christian Broadcasting Network, the host asked Robertson about a gay marriage bill that passed the New Hampshire legislature. “But Pat, the governor there still isn’t sure if he will approve that bill,” the host said.

“Lee, we haven’t taken this to its ultimate conclusion,” Robertson replied. “You got polygamy out there. How can we rule that polygamy is illegal when you say that homosexual marriage is legal. What is it about polygamy that’s different? Well, polygamy was outlawed because it was considered immoral according to biblical standards. But if we take biblical standards away in homosexuality, what about the other? And what about bestiality and ultimately what about child molestation and pedophilia? How can we criminalize these things and at the same time have constitutional amendments allowing same-sex marriage among homosexuals. You mark my words, this is just the beginning in a long downward slide in relation to all the things that we consider to be abhorrent.’

The following video from the Christian Broadcasting Network appears below.

9. Well, let's start with the Catholic Church and the Mormon sect in Texas...
When your supreme leader needs to apologize for boy-rape and you have men marrying 12-year-old girls, all as a result of your religion, that makes for a good start in linking child molestation with religious beliefs...

5. It's too bad Pat wasn't saying this stupid shit last year.
His "logic" on gay marriage leading to legalized polygamy might have caused the Mormons to drop their funding of Prop H8. :evilfrown:

What? If we let the gays get married, we can go back to having multiple wives?? Well then in the name of Joseph Smith, bring it on!

8. gee, Pat - ever consider that the majority of child molesters are straight
and that quite a few of them are Christians as well?

To be fair, I don't really have a problem with group marriage if everyone is a consenting adult, but those other things are completely different despite people like Robertson seeing all deviancy (except the one which leads to biblical stupidity) as being all the same.

15. He sounds a lot like this guy arguing against interracial marriage.
"Intermarriage between whites and blacks is repulsive and averse to every
sentiment of pure American spirit. It is abhorrent and repugnant. It is
subversive to social peace. It is destructive of moral supremacy, and
ultimately this slavery to black beasts will bring this nation to a fatal
conflict" - Rep. Seaborn Roddenberry (R-GA) in 1911 on a proposed
constitutional amendment forbidding interracial marriage.

16. Polygomy is about somebody having many different spouses while gay marriage is about
gay people having the same rights as heterosexual couples--meaning one spouse until death (or divorce) do part. What a jackass!
