Wise words when it comes to being a liberal IMHO. The link above is from the movie 'The Straight Story', and his words about family ring true for us all.

"I would give my kids a stick and tell them to break it, which they could real easy, then I would say to them tie them in a bundle and try to break that - which they couldn't. Then I would say that bundle is family"

On the left I see us as the bundle. A big tent made up of many sticks, but when you bundle us together you can't break us.

Don't get me started on my dog...

1. Never saw that movie before --
I'll have to check it out. I certainly didn't know that David Lynch ever made anything like that.

2. I remember reading about somebody like that driving across the
country on a riding mower. I just wonder if this is a true story.

3. Yes, it is based on an old man driving a riding lawnmower to visit his brother.
If I remember right, he drove across northern Iowa into Wisconsin.

It's a remarkable movie -- I really liked it, and ordinarily anything by David Lynch gives me the heebie-jeebies. (Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, etc.)

The old man on the mower is hard to forget. I recommend the film.
