I can not believe how wretched it was watching that. My first indication was that it was made for National Geographic Television station which I'm guessing, is going the way of the Hitler Channel and the Discovery channel in sensationalizing historical events in the hopes of increasing ratings.
I was expecting an in depth examination of the the Lincoln assassination and instead I was disappointed with bad acting, dramatizing historical events and spinning graphics of "Wanted" posters. The show didn't present any interesting information concerning the escape of Boothe and didn't revisit any of the sites along the Boothe escape route, many of which are surprisingly still standing. They had historians throwing in their two cents which amounted to their opinions about how Boothe felt and conjecture about historical events they could have absolutely no idea about.
The author of the book 'American Brutus' was interviewed on the show, I really enjoyed his book but he is completely wasted in this effort by producers who dumb down the tone of the program for an audience whose attention span is millisecond long.
National Geographic has become an embarassment and the sad fact is that I actually purchased this DVD thinking that it was going to be pretty good. Thinking about taking the DVD to their HQ in D.C. and smashing it on their front steps. I mean damn, why didn't they show actual modern day footage of Ford's fucking theater? It's only like two or three blocks from their building.
