Well, they have good benefits if you're lucky enough to have a full-time job.

I work at a state agency where 50% of the employees are part-time, no benes. For years. For years and years and years. A woman who works here in HR told me that 50% figure.

It may be different if you're not in a dumbass "right-to-work" state. But that's how it is here.

1. Yeah, PA is adopting the "WalMart Formula" as well
Whatever the cut-off for benefits might be (30, 32 hours), you get to work just under that. But they WILL allow you to work TWO part time jobs to get more hours, but since they are different "jobs", you aren't a full-time employee. WalMart has been doing that for at least 15 years and getting away with it. There are people clocking 50+ hours who don't get benefits because they work "two jobs", even though cross-department rules allow them to spend all of that time in the same department. That's just wrong. One of the neighbor kids was caught up in that racket for a while until he found a desk job with an accounting firm (with benefits).
