CRC Public Relations - remember that name
http://www.crcpublicrelations.com/

They were involved with the swiftboaters. They are the lead agency strategizing the PR charge to defeat health care reform.

Who is paying them?

Were any of them in the meeting with Obama today?

6. K&R ! Thanks for letting us know these RW thugs are running the charge
They handled the Alito nomination PR too.
And protected the Swiftboat cads.
And to show their softer side, they handled National Abstinence Education

Kind of presents another angle on the eversogenerous offer of the healthcare industry to save us 2 trillion over the next ten years just by cutting cost increase projections by 1.5% !!

I just hate the industry offer because if they can cut costs by two trillion over the next ten years by making such a small adjustment in cost increases-- why the hell didn't they do that over the last ten years?

10. There's a lot of useful stuff at an old DU thread from 2005
Edited on Mon May-11-09 08:19 PM by starroute
This thread from 2005 looked at CRC's connections in some detail:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3137074

At the time, I posted there about its founder, Greg Mueller:
Mueller's connections with Brent Bozell go back at least to the World Freedom Foundation, a pro-Contra group connected to Reverend Moon which Bozell founded in 1987. According to http://rightweb.irc-online.org/groupwatch/wff.php , writing as of 1990:

"Greg Mueller, director of public relations for WFF, is with the public relations firm of Keene, Shirley & Associates. Keene, Shirley is a registered agent for Jonas Savimbi of UNITA, the opposition army in Angola, and the Nicaraguan Development Council, a contra front group. He also represents the Nicaraguan Democratic Resistance. Keene, Shirley was hired as the first public relations firm for the Nicaraguan American National Foundation, a pro-contra lobbying group formed by Nicaraguan exiles. Reportedly, the funds to pay the Keene, Shirley bill came from WFF and the Conservative Victory Committee. At Keene, Shirley, Mueller has also represented Christian Voice and has coordinated a conference for the AFC. Mueller worked with Bozell at the National Conservative Fdn as a research analyst for Newswatch."

David Keene is the long-time head of the American Conservative Union -- which annually puts on CPAC, at which Rush Limbaugh was anointed leader of the Republican Party last winter. And Craig Shirley now heads the PR firm of Shirley & Banister which represents almost every extreme right-winger you can think of -- from Ann Coulter to David Bossie, as well as many extremists from the religious right.

To put it bluntly, Keene, Shirley, and Mueller are all at the heart of what used to be quaintly known as the vast-right wing conspiracy -- which was never actually all that vast, but consisted of about five people and their very noisy friends. They haven't been particularly visible since 2004, but with the official GOP going into some sort of death spiral, they all seem to be coming out of the woodwork.

According to my notes, CRC was deeply involved in pushing the "Memogate" story in 2004 and also represented Progress for Freedom -- the 527 set up by Karl Rove's old pal Tony Feather, which overlapped with the Swiftboaters in many ways (such as employing Ben Ginsberg, now Norm Coleman's attorney) and was the other massive outside issues group in the 2004 election.
