Ed:
I am very upset that the single-payer reps were turned away. My
question is - "If they didn't want to open this discussion up then why
didn't they have closed meetings?" This sounds so much like something
Bush and Cheney would have done. I am VERY disappointed!
What good is it to say that the Obama Administration was going to be
transparent and then not let the single-payer reps at the table!
In Florida Jeb Bush tried 4 years ago to bring in the HMO's and take
away Medicaid - He got the HMO's in and the Medicaid people lost all
the good specialists and support they needed. Mainly because they
didn't pay enough to these specialist and family physicians and kept
the main profit for themselves and their stakeholders.
One of the main issues I am afraid of is people like my son who has
chronic Progressive MS aren't going to get the quality care they need!
HMO's cut and cut and cut! They have very few good specialists on
their rolls and this makes the care mediocre at best and terrible for
chronically ill patients. Read all this at Georgetown University
reports on this issue from Bush's proposals if you want to learn more
here:
http://ihcrp.georgetown.edu/floridamedicaid/Remember this wasn't straight Medicaid but HMO supported and run
Medicaid. It scars the heck out me for those who need the most care!
I suggested that the State University Medical Centers be a triage for
these chronically ill patients but it has went no where. One of these
State University Medical Centers saved my sons life! I have emailed
the Obama Administration on this many time and no one has replied. I
don't care if I ever get credit for this I just want to know that
chronically ill patients get quality care in the "greatest country in
the world".
Keep up the fight Ed! You are right on!
