Are we to assume that the Justice "memos" apply to "contractors"? Yes? No?

Is it illegal to destroy documents relevant to "contractors" who torture? Yes? No?

Is it legal for "contractors" to torture whomever they want in Iraq? Yes? No?

Is Cheney perhaps using the "memos" as a limited hangout aimed at drawing our attention away from "contractors" who torture?

Have "contractors" come up in the hearing today?

What's the word on "contractors"?

1. The hearings made me want definitions too - WHO exactly is a "CIA Contractor"??
Who are they? Who hired them? Are they even US Citizens? Who gave them authority and to what extent?

Are they employees of the CIA or someone else?

It's very, very vague.

who developed the program for the Pentagon/Cheney. It's not that there was an army of contractors out there torturing. That was CIA and MI.

3. So, do we know if the "contractors" who did the torturing were actual CIA? Or were they private?
Like Blackwater? Or even some non-citizen outfit?

I'm trying to get a handle on who carried out the torture.

It sounds like the FBI didn't take part in torture, from today's hearings.

4. Right. It was CIA and MI personnel. There were others involved
and even a few contractors but the bulk of this program was carried out by CIA and MI personnel.

FBI was involved in a different way. Apparently, they went in after some torture sessions to sanitize the situation so that the evidence extracted could be admissible in court. It looks like FBI was much more complicit than they've been letting on.
