Pelosi: C.I.A. Misled Congress Over Waterboarding
Edited on Thu May-14-09 12:43 PM by spanone
Under fire from Republicans for what she knew about harsh questioning of terror detainees, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday acknowledged that she had learned as early as 2003 that the C.I.A. had subjected suspects to waterboarding.

At a tense press conference, Ms. Pelosi said for the first time that a staff member alerted her in February 2003 that top lawmakers on the House Intelligence Committee had been briefed on the use of tough interrogation methods on terror suspects.

But she said the fact that she did not speak out at the time due to secrecy rules did not make her complicit in any abuse of detainees. She accused the C.I.A. and Bush administration of lying to Congress about what was actually transpiring with the detainees.

“I am saying that the C.I.A. was misleading the Congress and at the same the administration was misleading the Congress on weapons of mass destruction,” Ms. Pelosi said.

3. Some in Congress knew about it and were ok with it.
Just look at the Senate voting record of McNuts.

5. Undoubtedly, her mouth was duct taped, and she was shackled to her chair.
She couldn't question the briefers. Nor could she walk out of the briefing. Poor thing. :nopity: :nopity:

20. Sure. But, that didn't prevent her from questioning them.
Or, even better, walking out of the briefing, therefore making it a non-briefing.

Her excuse is lame on the face of it.

8. Get fucking real, Bush & the republicans were never going to share...
really sensitive, criminal information with Pelosi and the Democrats, ever....The republicans ruled everything then (2001 - 2007) Bush/Cheney/Rove & the republicans really & truly thought their power was going to last forever.

The republicans were/are so smugly partisan and have such disdain for the democrats, the people & our constitution. They were never ever going to do things fairly or by the law, that’s not who the republicans are, they believe they are better than everyone else….republicans felt they were above all that, untouchable, they certainly were NOT going to tell Pelosi or any Democrat for that matter all their lies & sick secrets about prisoner abuse and torture or about anything else….

The republicans (Cheney) wouldn't even tell the Dems or anyone else who was even at the White House energy policy meetings. It's still covered up, so you know they were never going to let democrats in on their crimes, lust for pain & torture, and most certainly not Nancy Pelosi whom they despise or any other democrat….
The CIA, BushCo & the republicans who were in complete and total power are lying trying to save their ass and believe they can get out of this if they finger a democrat, and say it enough times on Fox news….that’s always been their strategy, since day one of BushCo, the most secret administration in American history.

Again, get real here, we are talking about the arrogant slimy, vindictive, imperialist republicans in power here…

14. What about other torture, Nancy?
Notice how are "leaders" try to keep the definition of torture confined to waterboarding? My question to Nancy... when did you know about sleep deprivation and stress positions?
