I just got here because I've been working like mad getting the local May 30th (Nat'l Day of Action for Single-Payer Healthcare) rally up and running. I found out about the day on Wednesday and the last day to get a permit was Friday. Whew! Still any of you out there can make a valuable contribution by simply getting a carload (or more) of people committed to going to your nearest May 30th event. (See list here.) I can tell you from the point of view of an organizer, that nothing is worse than planning a party and having no one show up. Also, homemade signs rock!

It's not widely known, but the national organizations of the United Churches of Christ and the Presbyterians have both explicitly endorsed single-payer, and most other religious and interfaith organizations have endorsed "universal healthcare". So definitely put up notices for the nearest May 30th event on the bulletin board of your place of worship and see if you can have it added to their calendar.

The buzz is that there will be a national lobbying day in DC, June 25th (a Thursday). Here's hoping that the coalition of national groups soon find the courage to call for a good, old-fashioned march and rally on the National Mall for that Saturday--June 27th. Here's their contact page.
