Do you see DU as a Democratic site or a Progressive site?

Just curious if you think of Democratic Underground as a place for Democrats of all stripes or if it is more a progressive web site--meaning not only Democrats but people from all of the left (socialists, Naderites, etc included).

Of course, as a Canadian I'm intrinsically in "the latter" camp anyway, so that's just how I justify my presence here. ;)

A week or two back I recall another poster who succinctly outlined this issue: dems are content with the system, despite its problems and bad apples...as where progressives/indies/leftists want an entire overhaul of the corporate/state nexus ...which, I s'pose that term in and of itself likely sounds too 'conspiratorial' for many dems.

A significant number of DUers are *not* Democrats. That has been the case as long as I've been here.

And, I don't mean Republicans and/or trolls.

DU is pretty schizo, actually.

Right now it seems to be reimagining itself and former allies during the Bush years are factionalizing.

Short answer:

DU doesn't know what the hell it is right now. Time will tell what it becomes.

The Naderites, McKinney worshippers and Rondroids can all take a hike.

And boy are they loud.

But maybe you lump all dissent into Green Party support--or Republican support.

We have Democrats here who aren't progressive, and progressives here who aren't Democrats. Both tend to be welcomed here as long as they aren't disruptive.

But the core of the community seems to be made up of those who are both democratic and progressive, and repeatedly posting views that are too conservative or too anti-Democratic Party can get you deleted or tombstoned.

this is undoubtedly a Democratic website, maybe somewhat to its detriment. But, of course, that's what it's billed as.

There are plenty of progressives at DU.
There are quite a few progressive Democrats -- like myself -- at DU.

this is most assuredly a Democratic site.
