Pittsburgh loses its lone liberal Lynn Cullen again - WAMO sold religious group
I was wondering why Pittsburgh's "lone liberal" Lynn Cullen wasn't on today. Then I saw this:

WAMO To Be Sold, Go Religious

PITTSBURGH -- Sheridan Broadcasting has agreed to sell three Pittsburgh stations, including WAMO.

The company has made a deal to sell its stations to St. Joseph's Missions. The radio stations are expected to go religious.

It's not known when the sale will be finalized.

All of the people who work for Sheridan Broadcasting in Pittsburgh have been told they are out of a job.

Sheridan Broadcasting still exists. Its headquarters will continue to be in Pittsburgh. Sheridan has radio stations in Atlanta, Birmingham and Buffalo.

Sad too cause it was the lone African-American stations! Also a long tradition in Pittsburgh.

When the hell won't that 50,000 watt piece of Repuke crap KDKA get sold?

1. That sucks.
From downtown Pittsburgh you can already tune in at least half a dozen God-stations, so I can't imagine why they'd need another.

Cullen and I weren't always on the same page, but she was a wonderful break from the wall-to-wall RW crap--both local and piped-in--that Pittsburgh radio has to offer.

2. Ain't that the truth - Pittsburgh radio is one great wasteland
of RW crap and mostly lousy repetitive music.

I've been listening to Lynn since back when she was at 1250 WTAE. Thank goodness for internet radio and books on audio.

Man this sucks big-time.

I think all these religious groups that buy up liberal and in this case the lone African-American station is a conspiracy to try to silence liberals.

3. I loves me some 91.3 and 88.3, which are perhaps the last two remaining havens

88.3 doesn't make it much farther north than Cranberry, though, and I can only get 91.3 sporadically. I can listen to them online, of course, but that only works when I'm actually sitting at the computer...

90.5 hosts NPR, at least, as well as This American Life and a handful of special-focus programs.

But anything above 91.4 on the dial is about 100% crap.
