1. maybe...
...maybe not...the photos can stir up almost as much controversy by being covert, esp. in the absence of action against people who may have committed war crimes.

3. Just as long as the photos get more choice in their attorney, and if the photos are
tortured (aka treated inhumanly, or cruelly,) that can't be used against releasing them.

4. military tribunal isn't authorized for FOIA requests
military tribunals is for combatants
FOIA is for the people (not combatants)asking through proper channels for information about their governments actions

6. multiple decisions to release the photos
but apparently democrats now think that people asking for information about their government should be treated as enemy combatants and be subject to military tribunals.

8. Why . . . ? Is the Military the final Judge of all . . . ???
This is still a CIVILIAN nation -- a CIVILIAN rule of law --

a "government of the people" -- not a government of, by and for Military.

Though our MIC budget would seem to say otherwise!!!

12. That makes no sense at all.
The military NEVER willingly cleans up messes that become public. They are designed to hide from the public and their civilian bosses anything that makes them look bad.

We have a system that is perfectly designed for this problem. The Justice Department, and the federal courts. All it takes is an Executive Branch that isn't cowardly about addressing this problem.

15. Let's get the conspirators in jail before worrying about the photos
I may be alone in thinking this, but I see Obama's point about the photos. We don't need them to know torture is bad, or who did it. Will the risk to our troops in the field be worth what's gained?

Of course they should be eventually released, but I'm more concerned with the investigation and prosecution of Bush, Cheney and cronies. When the photos are released, it would be nice to be able to say, "the people responsible for this are in jail."
