NEW YORK – A source close to Utah's Gov. Jon Huntsman says President Barack Obama plans to name the Republican governor as ambassador to China.

The source says Huntsman has accepted the appointment.

An announcement was expected at the White House Saturday morning.

Huntsman has been mentioned as a potential 2012 presidential contender. He served as ambassador to Singapore under President George H.W. Bush.

8. As I understand it, he's frequently criticized by Utahans (sp?) for not doing anything...
... about illegal immigrants.

6. Republicans can't be happy about this
I thought he would be their best candidate against Obama. Him doing this pretty much tells you if he has Presidential intentions, he'll wait and not run against Obama

9. Huntsman is a good man. He's actually come out in favor of civil unions and rational
policies regarding spending in his state against a crazy ass legislature.
