He hit the ground running from day one. He's done a lot of great things in such a short time. He's also been man enough to apologize for some of his fuck ups. That alone puts him light years ahead of the silverspoon sociopath who pretended to play President in the last 8 years.
This week he fucked up badly again (for maybe the third or fourth time in his tenure) and it's important that those of us who have learned the cost of being complacent (think the Clinton years) do what we are supposed to do as participative citizens of this country. We must yell and scream and make sure he hears from us.
I'm very pleased with the furious tone DU has taken this week. It makes me proud that you people care so much and I know that many of you have let the WH and Obama hear your rage and fury. I know I have. I'm also pleased with the debates that have been sparked here. I don't agree with anyone who says he did the right thing but that's ok, because you people all care, even if we don't agree.
I do have a bit of a problem at this point, being scolded for expecting too much of Obama in his fourth month in office. That man is one of the smartest, most savvy Presidents we have had in a hell of a long time, even more than Clinton. He is too good at this for us to let him off the hook when he screws up. Yeah, maybe he has a hidden plan but since he ran on a platform of transparency, he'd best let us in on his little plan or expect to be blasted for what looks like a really, really dumb choice on his part. From here it looks like he got bad advice and he made a bad choice and it is my duty to make sure he knows that I, and many of my fellow citizens do not agree with his choice. To do otherwise is to pretend that he isn't uber competent, which by my observation, is not true.
Let's help this really good President become one of the greatest Presidents we've ever had. He has it in him, let's make sure we help to push him that direction.
