How In The Hell Is Newt Friggin Gingrich Shaping the Debate On Torture?
Where are the Dems? Where is the party support? Where is the indignation? Where is the refocusing of the debate on Bush and Cheney?

If the Dems continue to allow the Pukes to frame the arguments, then it won't matter if the record exonerates Pelosi or not. In the court of public opinion, her goose is already cooked.

Why, oh why, is this happening all over again?

1. The Dems want the torture issue to simply go away
But if this keeps up for another week or so then I think they might realize that it is not going to.

6. Pelosi and others have called for a Truth commission, etc.
They don't want it to go away. They continue to push for investigation.

Eventually the truth will out, and people will recognize this Republican tactic for what it is,

9. They Are Allowing the Repukes To Shift Public Opinion
Without a strong retort.

Yes, we may have the winning hand in the long run, but why can't we be just as vociferous as the GOP in the meantime?

11. Most people aren't responding that well to the GOP on other fronts - this may be no different
They aren't credible, apparently from some polling I saw this morning they are losing credibilty on National Security in general.

It is true that the are very loud. I still don't understand why the TV thinks it needs to give these people so much air time.

5. The Dems Have Been Silent Or At Best Mildly Passive
Can't blame the media for sticking a microphone near the only mouths willing to discuss the subject.

3. Well for one thing I doubt most people even know who Nancy Pelosi is
The Republicans are in a funny place. Now they are admitting torture happened. But like a three year old they are trying to blame others. This story isn't over.

However, it is pretty amazing how much airtime the TV is willing to give to a pretty marginal group of people. I do not remember them allowing Dems near microphones after the 2004 election.

7. We need a "draft Jesse Ventura" movement on the whole torture issue...
He's the only one on topic on it, handing Repugs their asses wherever he goes. If the Dems won't do it, give it to an independent who doesn't have any asses to cover.

8. Actually public opinion differs from the MSM's agenda. A poll

that was out recently was split almost down the middle of who was more believable, Pelosi or the CIA. Don't listen to the MSM, I learned that years ago.

12. It is true - some people have memories about the CIA, and can see through the GOP agenda

And the more Cheney speaks, the more people seem to trust Dems on national security issues. (per polling I saw this morning, sorrry no citation)

13. We won the election--but the Pukkkes still own the news organizations
and they love their old drinkin buddy Newt. They'll never abandon him--or the Buchanasaurus. That would be AWKWARD! better to just let them lie and renew their contracts every year. Republicans hate change.
