The Sleeper (cell) of the Senate--- Meet Senator Max Baucus
Edited on Wed May-20-09 10:49 PM by Breeze54
As chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Max Baucus could all but
ensure the passage of a progressive social-policy agenda.

Or he could be its biggest roadblock.

Baucus is chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
Staffers like to say that the committee is responsible
for all the money the government raises and half of what
it spends -- and that's not too far from the truth.

It is the only Senate committee able to construct new funding streams, which
gives it incredible authority over the country's social-policy architecture

2. Nope. He has his detractors, and I think the liberal LION is one of them.
Kennedy is going to be a force to be reckoned with. I want to hear what his plan is.

12. I'll give a Franklin to the challener's campaign!
And more too. Retire him so that he can enjoy the fruits of his long labor for the mining and other corporate
interests he's represented so well.

8. Baucus is crafty, he's paid for and owned by insurance and health care interests, and he's powerful.
He's already raised about five bucks per every citizen in Montana for his re-election.

Getting a Democratic majority involves working with sellouts like Max Baucus, and Jon Tester hasn't shown us anything yet either.

On the other hand, we could have Conrad Burns; no one would have wanted that.
