Has anyone or does anyone use a Majic-Jack phone?
My s-i-l does and swears by it, the DH is bugging me about it, so I'm wondering if there are any +/- stories out there. Thanks!

1. I use it
99% of the time works really well.

A few times though have issues with phone, answer it and folks can hear me, or same with calling. Just restart the program and works fine.

For the price it is worth buying and testing for a month while keeping existing service. Not happy, only out $25. If happy, you can save a ton on monthly phone service.

5. Ha! I compared it to that, too. Anything promoted like a
slider station leaves me scratching my head.

9. And a virutally empty pipe.
Meaning that if your connection is slow or busy it will cut out every few seconds and become useless.

My cheap-ass boss tried to make me use one, I lasted one call.

11. A good resource would be Clark Howard
He just had a discussion about this on his radio show. His website also has info. He recommended them.

14. Problem is ...you have to keep your computer on 24/7 if you want 24/7 phone service.

15. Tried it, didn't like it.
If your internet connection goes down, no phone. You have to leave your computer on at all times, or again, no phone.

We live in a house that had a couple of extra extensions (bedroom and kitchen) but with Magic Jack, you only get one.

It worked okay provided your connection didn't go down.

If I remember correctly, we also got hit with a cancellation fee when we ditched it.

Ms. stevedeshazer just switched her cell phone to our home number. That turned out to be for the best.
