Report: Woman Claims She Dated Miss Cali's Mom
'A woman claims she had a lesbian relationship with Miss California's mom that ended right before the anti-gay marriage beauty queen competed in the biggest pageant of her career, according to ABCNews.com.'

"I did date her," the woman told ABC Wednesday evening. "I'm not going to deny it, but I'm not going to say anything else."

http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/entertainment/NATL-California.html

I guess this family believes in double standards.

3. I was in the car
driving when I first heard this on the radio, and literally busted out laughing. I laughed all the way home.

I guess I should find this sad, not funny. But it's all just so predictable. I'm bad.

15. Well, I'm sitting here seething that
although I do not agree with Prejean, especially her sanctimonious delivery, I thought bashing her went too far because, after all, everyone is allowed an opinion. And she lost. That was enough for me. I'm not into pageants at all, but that I felt a little sorry for this poser and a climber really pisses me off. I even rooted for her because of all the send off media coverage she got here in San Diego, where she's from and I where I live. Ugh!

24. You need to remember
Nobody "bashed" Prejean -- and nobody even really criticized her until she blamed the gay community for her losing the pageant.

Her pageant answer was just stupid twaddle, the same as most of those pathetic airheads give. However, she tried to claim that she would have won if it weren't for the gays. That's when the fun began.

36. Agreed. It's not what she said
per say, but how she said it. It was babble. She lost, not because of her opinion but because she sounded stupid.

Then she blamed the pageant, the gays, the liberals for losing. She lost because she didn't deserve to win. Even if she were given some softball question, she probably wouldn't have won.

37. Well, I dispute your timeline.
The way I remember it, Perez Hilton was on his blog the same night as the pageant calling her a dumb bitch, and her blame-shifting came after that. Look, I hate disagreeing with you, who I fundamentally agree with, but everyone does have a right to an opinion and obviously we have to deal with. So let's agree to disagree.

12. Evidently she did,
shortly before the contest. And good momma broke the relationship off so her daughter could go on national (global?) television and spew homophobic hatred with a clear conscience.

'Valerie Vetrano, a sales representative from Corona, Calif., claimed her relationship with beauty queen Carrie Prejean's mother ended "a couple weeks before Carrie Prejean was in the Miss USA competition,"'

Isn't it sweet the way mothers are willing to do just about anything for their little girls?

7. Wow, if this is true, no wonder
Prejean is so messed up. The article says that the parents had a bitter divorce spanning 10years accusing each other of homosexual affairs. Perhaps she thinks homosexuality messed up her parents righteous marriage because they obviously taught her so. "I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised." This is beyond double standard. It's downright sick.

I was trying not to be too judgmental, but I agree with you. It is sick, and twisted.

I still find it difficult to give a pass to Miss Morality. She has an alleged mind of her own. And she's just too damn special to care about other people that she finds lesser than herself. It didn't take a messy divorce to get that way.

at one of those places meant to "cure" gays. and they probably were pressured to marry each other.

17. Whatever happened,
she didn't learn acceptance, even for her mother. Of course, the pressures her parents (at least her mother) may have felt to become ungay would probably have something to do with it?

16. I feel sorry for her.
I'm sure it couldn't have been an easy situation to be in. Everyone wants a stable home life where the people who brought them up love, trust and honor each other, and apparently she never had it.

Sad.

I don't think she wrenched the family apart while Prejean was living at home.

19. I think it's sad
but I'm not sure I feel all that sorry for her. I don't know enough about her. She appears to be a girl who has been indulged by her parents, and most everyone else, for that matter. I kind of see this as a willful ignorance on her part. But, like I said, I don't know enough about her.

Is anyone else seeing the irrelevance of this news story?

25. The problem is with her inability
to tell the truth and the lengths she will go to for self advancement.

She brought up HER family's values.

"I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

28. Maybe it was how she was raised
should she update her beliefs based on everything her parents do at every point in time?

My original point remains valid.

29. I don't understand your logic here.
Is anyone saying Prejean should be gay because her mother is?
The gay citizens of this country deserve the exact same rights as heterosexual citizens.
For her to be the age she is, and to have at least one gay parent, one would think she would have a keen sense of fairness about such matters.
She's a twit and a bigot, and the sooner she goes away, the better.

30. You're being obtuse
No one is saying Carrie should be gay IF her mother is (we don't really know yet).

What I AM saying is that if any revelation that Carrie's mother is gay should discredit Carrie's opinion, then
what are we to make of the people on this site who struggle with the things their rightwing parents or close relatives
do or say?

(for the simpleminded: I'm not endorsing Carrie Prejean's opinion)

31. Look, I struggle with my feelings about my right-wing father.
It is one thing to struggle with the old, hateful ideas of our right-wing relatives. Hell, my father said he wished we could go back to the days when only white men who owned property could vote.

I don't see how it is a struggle to accept one's (possibly) gay parent. I don't see the struggle in accepting that all citizens should be allowed to marry the person they love.

32. All we know is what she said
And yes, it shouldn't be a struggle to arrive at correct feelings on gay marriage.

I guess I have a bee in my bonnet about drawing inference that is as logically sound as possible. "I don't think gay people
ought to be able to marry" and "my mom is gay" are not inconsistent statements, odd though that may sound.

35. I don't believe anything written about her
I think the whole thing was a publicity stunt from beginning to present. One thing I noticed from the racy photos, her boobs aren't any bigger now than they were years ago. But there was a story back at the beginning about the pageant paying for breast implants for her. So that story was fake. If one was fake, they probably all are, or they were true facts arranged to grab public attention.
