Poll question: President Obama says he's confident General Motors would thrive after restructuring. Are you?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama said in an interview released on Saturday he was confident General Motors would thrive after restructuring, but made no mention whether the automaker might have to enter bankruptcy to complete reorganization.

2. Right topic, wrong question.
What interests me is 1) how its American workforce will fare; 2) how its retirees will fare; and 3) whether it will thrive in America.

I see no good outcomes here.

6. As much as we need them to survive, I have serious doubts.
We need American companies that make something, and that employ Union workers at living wages to do so. But we also need transportation that's not dependent on 19th century technology, the oil burning combustion engine.

You gotta wonder if anyone at GM regrets pulling the plug (literally) on their electric cars a few years back and instead putting out the most ridiculous piece of gas guzzling shit to ever be sold as a civilian vehicle, the Hummer.

7. A lot depends on what type of cars they build...
if all they build are teeny tiny little cars...No.
