2. Of course. Now, all we need is to have our government do the same.
For about 10% of our "official defense budget" we could obviate the need for our military machine and reduce it's size to about one tenth. The resulting 80% savings could accomplish everything we want to at home and we could dedicate the "unofficial military budget" to deficit reduction.

So what is the problem?

4. No. I want the country I live in to devolve
into a state of non-existence.

5. Not at all
I'm a big believer that individual nations are better able to manage their own affairs than a centralized power structure. It's time to progress right out of the UN, imho.

8. Individual nations came together in military coalitions in WWI and WWII.
Of course there was more than one large coalition. Is it better for nations to enter into military coalitions based on identity politics or is it better to try to maintain a single system of rules agreed upon by all of the major powers and most of the minor powers?

In any case, welcome to DU!

10. Yes - as long as our rights as Americans are preserved
I remember how Obama was forced to back off some proposals to buy steel from American companies because international trade agreements signed by his predecessors tied his hands. I'm not saying that this was a UN issue, but it is definitely something we should pay closer attention to.
