Falwell Shuts Down LU Democratic Club
Lynchburg, VA - Some students are calling it a political 'witch hunt' at Liberty University. The school will no longer sanction a club that promotes the Democratic Party, but the LU Young Republican Club remains untouched.

Obviously, Democrats are very upset about this. A lot of people want to know why the university made this move. The University says the Democratic party runs counter to the mission of the University. The students say the university is telling them that, as Democrats, they are not real Christians.

Marilyn Johnson, member of the LU Democrat Party Club, said, "Because we have the word Democrat in our name, we go against the mission of the school or the school's stand."

Former members of the Liberty University Democratic Party Cub say the university's decision is downright unfair.

Democratic Club Secretary Jan Dervish said, "Well I think you can still be a Christian and be a Democrat."

Even though Dervish plans to stay at Liberty, he's now afraid his school's name will be tarnished. "I'm worried about the value of my degree I guess as a government major when I graduate, coming from a school that can only allow one side. And I'm just hoping that no one thinks less of it because of it," Dervish said. (more in link)

4. "I'm worried about the value of my degree" TOO LATE!!
I think Mr. Dervish should have considered that before he enrolled. Besides the Repug gravy train for fundy political operatives has already pulled into the station.

5. I don't think he needs to worry
about the value of his degree, it was never worth the paper it's printed on. I don't think I would ever even waste the time interviewing somebody supplying a phony degree from that place. Then again, I probably would never need to I work as a scientist and I think the study of facts is counter to the Liberty mandate.

6. It's a little late to worry about the reputation of your school,
dear. You didn't know it was a bastion of fundamentalcase nonsense when you went there? How silly of you not to do your due diligence before selecting a college.

8. This, coming from a school that was saved from bankrupcy
by the likes of the Rev. Moon! Idiots!

If I were one of those students, I'd be contacting the ACLU. I'd also be demanding that all state and Federal funding cease and desist immediately, and that the repukes be kicked off campus, as well.

9. If "Liberty" isn't going to promote liberty, they should change the name.
How about "Narrow Minded U.?"

13. The value of your degree? What kind of a bad joke is that?
Is LU even accredited by anyone real? Or am I living in the past? I guess when you can get a dergee online, a degree from LU is as good as anything else; not very good at all.
