Not really the feelings I want to experience on a Memorial Day Sunday. CBS Sunday Morning ran a piece about a couple of soldiers who came home with half their faces and hands burnt or blown off and the issues and emotions they and their families have to deal with every day. I'm not sure why this story hit me any harder than any of the other countless horror stories that have come out of this Godawful endless nightmare. Maybe it's the timing, with Cheney's ghoulish mug on the TeeVee day after day. Maybe it's the new evidence of what many of us knew all along, that torture was used to facilitate an abomination that would cause inestimable suffering with no end in sight. I can only hope that people who saw this story finally connect the dots, because sure as hell the media won't do it for them. However, I won't say what I'd like to do to Cheney if I found myself alone in a room with him. Preventive prolonged detention doesn't appeal to me much, and one never knows where the thought police might be lurking. Thanks, DU, for providing a place to vent.
