10. Tomorrow.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s Supreme Court will issue a ruling Tuesday that will either uphold Proposition 8, the gay marriage ban, or overturn it as illegal and unconstitutional.

The much anticipated 10 a.m. announcement will open a new chapter in the struggle over gay marriage.

Of course, I've long since realized that I was naive, but I still hold out hope that the Supreme Court will make me proud to be a Californian again.

45. Well, are you sure that this vote wasn't stolen . . . ???
From what I've read, they pretty much thought this vote was safe --

and then the religious fanatics flooded money into it??

Then, again, if you voted on computers?

48. Good point.
I remember this:

Following reports of concerns from voters, election monitors, observers, and election integrity advocates about the voting equipment and procedures used during the November 4th election in which Prop 8 --- a constitutional amendment banning marriage equality for all Californians --- is said to have passed, Velvet Revolution is requesting that official complaints from citizens be filed with the CA Sec. of State, by Monday if possible. Any voters who may have witnessed unusual activity, or problems with voting equipment that may have affected the casting or counting of votes on Proposition 8, are asked to contact SoS Debra Bowen's office as soon as possible.

9. By all that is divine, all will be just.
'Now' is not known to the divine, but all things have a 'now'.

'Now' would be perfect in this humble one's opinion, but there will come a 'now' no matter what, when, or where.

Equality will win because it must.

Now is a very good time.

11. Weddings are good business.
Therefore capitalists should encourage them.

Weddings are moments of sharing great and harmonious happiness, therefore socialist.

Clearly, weddings have something for everyone.

Even those good friends who never got the chance to marry the people they most dearly loved. Because I have a memory who will stand up and cheer if the weddings go forward. Me standing beside him.

21. I have a knot in my stomach about this
Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst.

Having a bunch of strangers vote on whether or not you can be married is so goddamn demeaning. Having a Court uphold their right to do so would be wretched.

Simple justice and equality - if not tomorrow, soon.

Edited on Tue May-26-09 09:20 AM by Terran
if the CASC chooses to uphold Prop 8, it could be the basis on which to finally take this issue to the SCOTUS. I can't see this being the end of the issue if it doesn't go our way, and the only other place to go is to the US Constitution (and I believe the SCOTUS will be forced to uphold same-sex marriage).
