It seems like Mancow's waterboarding stunt stopped the media dead in it's tracks.
Apparently they've moved on to new things now that the torture debate is over, like an American Idol scandal. :eyes:

Has anyone heard peep about Dick's torture program since Friday? Is the story over? I sure hope not.

4. The problem is the media shutting up is what The Dick wants.
Torture is still the top story, they should be reporting it.

3. Geez, I was kind of enjoying the silence.

At least the guy who claimed it was torture after all had the last word. And Hannity is probably still hoping no one notices he pissed in his pants so he's not talking about it for that reason.

5. Nah, I bet you most of the MSM doesn't even know about this stunt
98% of people have never heard of "Mancow".

The was never a "torture debate". There was Dick Cheney/Rush vs everyone else.

7. There was a debate in the media about the question of waterboarding being torture or not
As of late last week, that debate is over. Sanity won.

But, that doesn't mean the real story (BushCo tortured) is over as the MSM seems to think.

6. Not Exactly
didn't he say on KO last night that Sean Hannity phoned him and said he still doesn't believe it's torture? Hannity has a bigger audience than MC - and apparently is never going to "water-board" himself as he said he would, then chickened out.

8. don't under estimate the impact of Ventura, Mancow, McCain
plus the military personnel who have come forward to attest to waterboarding being torture.(although McCain later equivocated after taking a strong anti-torture stance in his primary debates). I believe they've lessened Cheney's initial impact. Cheney will always be the sweetheart of that hard-core 20-something %. Give them up. It's that wide open middle that the GOP wants. And is so clueless how to get. They thought they had a viable strategy with the Cheney Torture Tour (backup provided by Liz Cheney). And they dominated the media for almost two weeks. Then, out came Ventura and Mancow - guys who possibly come across as more "authentic" than 5 time deferment recipient and serial liar Cheney. (The war is in the death throes. Al Quida is linked directly to Hussein. There are weapons of mass destruction.)The problem the GOP has is that they have no spokespeople outside of their core who Americans like and respect. So, they push Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin at the American public in a desperate bid for "likability".
Problem is, Americans don't like stupid, either.

11. As you can likely tell
the whole ordeal makes me furious. Three people? We know better. Cheney is out lying his ass off. His purpose is to re-frame the debate from "torture is WRONG" to "Does torture work", which is a pretty poor choice to try and defend, since torture will make people confess to anything the torturers want them to say. I say torture is WRONG, and is does NOT work. Evil, sadistic, mutant, sonsabitches.

12. And it is sickening how many people will buy their arguments. I guess
it is true about the moral decline in America. There are far too many people willing to give in to this dark and unrealistic and cruel view of the world.

14. Right now, the news reports have moved on to something else
I'm thinking of a Supreme Court nomination, not an American Idol scandal on the lines of the old TV quiz shows.

However, when the next memos are released or when some photos are shown, we'll see if Cheney is still trying to draw a distinction between torture and enhanced interrogation techniques.
